How many watt hours is your bike's battery, and how long does it usually take you to charge it at home?

Usually they are around 500wh battery packs. If it takes 5 hours to charge, the charger is approximately 100watts. My buddies' bikes charge at 168w, so take 3 hours to charge. If the bike takes longer than 5 hours to charge, it would be less than 100 watt charger.

But as others have said, the charger should have a nice big sticker/label that says exactly the volts/watts/amps etc.

Did you ever check to see that you actually turned it on? When the truck is moved out of park, it automatically drops to 100watts instead of the normal 400 watts available while in park. That can be modified though, through the 400w anytime mod, that allows full use of the inverter while driving.

Ok...20 seconds on google shows that there is a 2A and 4A charger.

    Volts x Amps = Watts

Assuming 36V and 4A, that leaves us with 144W.

The truck should handle that at idle in park (400W supply), but not while moving (only 100W)

We still never answered the question if the OP had the inverter turned on and the indicator light on the switch was on or not

If my Makita 18v charger trips the circuit while the truck is in drive I'm fairly certain it's just the 100 watts can't keep up. No problem when in park. Have not found many practical uses for the outlet in my situation.

I was told there would be no math

In any case the charger would not power up so despite the google search and equation, it did not work

Go look at your e-bike charger, there should be some PL listings and numbers. It will say something like 100w at 120vac.

This will determine how many watts your charger pulls.

Also - did you even turn the inverter on?

there is no need to contact Bosch lol

The outlet in your bed is powered by an inverter. It converts 12v DC to 120v AC.

You need to turn it on with the button on the left of your steering wheel on the dash. It says 400W and 100W.

The inverter only works when the truck is running. It provides 100W when you are driving, and 400w when parked (running).

Very helpful, thanks! In my OP I said I had never used it and bought the truck new in 2017 so clearly I was not familiar with any features with it

If you hit the button and it's still not working check the charger tag. There's an information tag on the charging cord or on the brick itself that gives detailed information on charging requirements. There is no need to contact Bosch as they will refer you to said information tag.

Looks like their chargers draw anything between 2 A to 4 A current.

Just a suggestion, when an issue like this comes up, ie: if something like an ebike charger or any device doesn't do anything when plugged in to an outlet, any outlet, try another 110V device in the same outlet. In this case it would have pointed you toward the right question to ask in your initial post plus it's kind of a basic first troubleshooting step that doesn't require any electrical knowledge. Glad you got it figured out.

Just a note, you need to have both amps and volts to calculate wattage. I am betting it's 42V, which means wattage max is 4a x42v =168 watts. This means it would charge fine while parked, but not while driving. If you want to charge while driving you will need to perform the 400 watt anytime mod, which allows the inverter to keep pumping out 400 watts while driving, instead of reverting down to 100 watts once you shift out of park. Any time the watts go over the maximum allowed, 100 or 400 watts depending on in park or not, the inverter will turn off automatically and stop charging.
