Progressive here for my bikes. 340/yr for 3 bikes. 100/300/100 liabilities, 250$ comprehensive deductible on all of them, only bike that has collision is the super tenere @ 1k deductible The super tenere alone acounts for 240 of that 340/yr. Progressive has been by far the cheapest for moto insurance at least with my tenure with them and here in CA... its damn near impossible to get new vehicle insurance policies unless you already have a policy already going.... good ole CA.

Hmm, will the DMV even let you do that? (probably just put it on non op maybe?)

just a couple of things tbh
how does that work for you guys in cali? out here we can just basically not register it and they go oh okay if you wanna re register it you will pay a late fee for every month its late which is a max of 200 bucks?? cant remember lol. even insurance we can just take it off as long as we dont have a loan on the vehicle and boom its an off pavement vehicle.

you can take a vehicle off insurance and place it on PNO (planned non-operation) and owned outright, which is a very marginal fee compared to regular registration you pay yearly to avoid backfees if you aren't going to be riding it. But you better not get caught operating a PNO vehicle anywhere that isn't private land, it can't even be street parked if so or ridden offroad in public spaces if it's an OHV.

Otherwise, you can simply stop registering it and backfees will continue to accrue, albeit at a slowing rate the longer it goes unpaid.

a vehicle with a loan on it typically requires full coverage. maybe some gap if the loan is more than the vehicle is worth.

Yeah it would be non-op'ed first and then I can cancel insurance.

Thanks! I'm a sucker for '80s/'90s retro style colors so I had the colors picked out for that reason!

damn thats wild! out here if you get caught they usually just ask do you have someone to come give you a lift... but most of the time they dont even care if you are in an area with trails and such around since most of our trails you have to bounce around and might need to go across a road or two

I mean yeah it will depend who catches you, largely. Most will likely let you go with a warning unless you're a known repeat offender but if they wanted to they could certainly impound the bike.

My AT had it done by my coworker/prior owner

Sikaflex and 3M tape is what he used. No issues for the 3 years he had it and the monthish I've had it.

Yeah, really to help keep the tire on while underinflated or with additional sideload (or both). Same config as my AT.

So we went and looked at some bikes today. First up was me looking at the klx300 duali (I guess people call it that?) anyways I like the dual sport buuut it's never going to be as light as the r since it has a subframe that's welded on. So I'll be looking for an r model to replace the klx400 with.

Now onto the fun part! The gf wanted to also check out bikes she was interested in. So nobody out here has a grom at all for her to try but loads of z125s and as you can see she has to tiptoe it haha. She still likes it thou and would like to have one for street riding maybe. She is also interested in a Honda rebel 500 or 300 since it's low to the ground and she likes how it looks. (Sadly that dealer was closed today so couldn't look at one today!)

Next we have the klx230s this bike is close ish to the others we are looking at for her. And wellll she doesn't like it.. she doesn't like how tall it is and doesn't feel comfortable with it and was kinda shaky on it. So dual sports are most likely going to be out of the running until she gets more comfortable with a bike.

Next is the klx140rl it's a baby bike but she was very comfy with it and liked it so she wants to go this route first and get a used one and then get her grom/rebel later on. At this point she will have a street bike and a trail bike which works since I'll have a trail bike once the klx is gone and my street bike.

Okay that is all for now! Gonna go to another dealer tomorrow since they have an r model in stock.

Have her wear some legit boots and see how the bikes feel then. I myself can't touch ground in a pair of Vans

That is very true. But even with boots which we did test she is just short on the dual sports lol.( They let us try a set to get a feel for the 230s) Eventually she will prob go up to a larger bike but she wants something small and simple first which is fine if that is what she is wanting

The Z125 sits VERY tall for its size and it feels like you are on top of the bike rather than down in it like the grom FYI - the z's can be found for SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the groms.

Sounds like a great day of messing around with cool bikes regardless

I was wondering if that was the case since even for me it felt taller. And ya we have found them cheap everywhere! So looking at lowering links and seats for when she gets one.

Ya it was a good time! Figuring out what we want and what we want to do

Always enjoyed it, I put 36,000 miles on the Goldwing with my wife on the back and wouldnt trade a minute. If she heard the bike start, she would run out the door with helmet in hand asking where we were going. Could sit the saddle from fill up to empty 3 times a day in temps from the low teens up to around 100 F, rain or sleet was no problem. Go to sleep on long straight pulls out of Texas with no scenery, I'd feel her helmet bump mine and clear my throat into the mic, she would say, just resting my eyes.

If you want her to cruise with you while your on the Bolt go with a rebel 300 for her. Now if you wanted to get 2 Groms then the both of you would have a blast.

Yeah, I have a multi-policy discount but I wouldn’t imagine that it’s more than 5 or 10%, I think 30/month is cheap but if another company is comparable or cheaper I may drop all my insurance.

That’s crazy, our car policy went up 30% in 6 months, but talking to Allstate today it seems that someone with a similar name (different middle initial) in another state is pulling up on my driving report with 3 at fault accidents since 2020, so I gotta check into that.
What’s crazy to me is progressive is so affordable with the bike despite me not having an endorsement.

The bike is cheap, our vehicles (my 03 taco and my wife’s ‘17 explorer) are over 100/month each with bare minimum coverage on my truck and semi-high deductible on my wife’s car. Before I got married 2 years ago my insurance was 50/month, both my wife and I have clean driving records, it just doesn’t make sense to me.

If I had a DRZ or something similar that I only used off road I wouldn’t register/insure it for sure.

That’s not terrible, I’ll check farmers out!

    Dang that’s a good rate!
