My 2006 F350 costs more for liability, than full coverage on 2018 Tacoma.

Newer vehicles tend to have more safety features, better crash test ratings, etc. My insurance rates dropped when I traded my 2011 Tacoma for a 2018 F-150.

We pay $2140 a year to insure a 2023 F-150, 2023 CX-5, and a 2022 Big Tex Car Hauler (trailer with comp and collision because it was cheap to do).

Also remember it isn't just the cost of replacing/repairing vehicle, it's the amount of damage on average that vehicles like yours do when you are at fault.

Certain vehicles are very expensive to insure simply because of the risk they pose to other vehicles/occupants, and it would not shock me to find out that what I'll call "very" lifted Tacomas (idk, just spitballing here, say more than 2" and on big/tall tires) drive up the average because they are so much more likely to total something they hit.

You see this with hummers too - even agreed value policies well below the book value on those can be murder, because it's pretty much instant death to any other vehicle on the road that they hit.

Amica auto. House is I think travelers through a guy down here. I'd have to pull it out. I haven't gotten the re-up this year yet. Good reminder I gotta call him and check in. Last year I cross quoted and I think one was within 50$, everything else was way more expensive.

HOI increase YOY, Haven't gotten the bill for 2024 yet.

    10% 2019
    8% 2020
    12% 2021
    14% 2022
    13% 2023

    Auto - Amica

Our policy is 6 months, so this is x2 even though I think it was a bit higher in the prior 6 months, whatever:

    1222 '15 Camry
    1340 '20 Tacoma
    212 Uninsured (combined)
    2774 combined total

RI - Average rate is no longer the worst at least according to this one.
    https://www.carinsurance.com/state-car-insurance-rates

Last time I had looked at it, the only one worse than us was Michigan because something about their liability/faults. Looks like there's been some shenanigans since then.

Anyway, still the worst in New England!

Edit to add some wise words from an adjuster one time a couple years ago. I asked about something in the coverage, and we had already thrown jabs back and forth, I say that to preface he told me: "Did you read your policy? That's in there".

But the jist of his advice: "I bet you spent a LONG time deciding which vehicle to buy. Spreadsheets, cars.com, yaddah yaddah - how long did you spend researching and reading your insurance policy? You spent a lot of money on this car, and this policy."

So I'd recommend that. Grab a six pack on a rainy day and sit down and actually read your policy. Know what is (and isn't) in there. Specifically for us - off/dirt roads.

RI insurance is high. When I moved to Cranston, my insurance increased due to it being a high risk area. People drive like traffic laws are optional here, so I can see why. I guess my "insurance credit" improved, so it went back down to what I was paying in Woonsocket. When I was looking into moving to Worcester, the agent said my insurance would cost me half of what I'm paying now.

I don't have any accidents or tickets on my record, so I'm not sure what insurance credit is.

My auto insurance went up 22% over last year. Then we got married and combined policies and knocked about 10% back off of it.

Home went up 16% over last year. Currently $1095/year on a 1500 sq ft ranch that would probably sell for around $300k. I'm also in a rural area which increases risk (no public water/fire hydrants and a volunteer fire department).

I guess I’m not the only one getting screwed on insurance. My rates and increases are pretty similar to the rest of you. I did just get something in the mail from Amica with a quote for homeowners insurance that is hundreds less than we currently pay. I’ll have to look into that.

We use Amica for home, auto, and camper (as well as a few riders for personal items worth insuring). Have never had a reason to look elsewhere and they have been very reasonable when a claim is needed.

Anyone able to do Tpms if I get new wheels? I feel like a shop will want too much

I think last time I did it, Town Fair Tire in Littleton let me out the door for like 70 bucks - tires and TPMS moved/balanced from existing over to 4 "new" wheels. I'm not even sure they charged me specifically to swap the TPMS over.

I'm looking at getting it already mounted and balanced, just need the tpms setup. Probably gonna just see how much the local shop costs for that. That and price out if I just get the wheels and do tires and sensors with them
