I don't have any noises while shifting. There's a whirring sound in neutral that maybe could be the input bearing (?), but other than the TOB noise, the tranny is quiet.

The transmission shifts nicely other than the fact the clutch isn't fully engaging.

They gave me one price versus quouting different hour levels.

i have that annoying whirring sound now on the rebuilt Yota1 R150F that came out of a 2oo2
that honestly i did Not noticeably hear on the original '97 R150F from under my truck
7 months of warranty left to get to the bottom of this whirring noise in neutral
my ears are hyper sensitive i can hear things others may not be able to LOL

If you figure out what the noise is, please post back. Good luck!

I guess I'm thinking that I won't rebuild the tranny unless it's really evident that it needs it. Once I do the clutch, I'll be out approx $6500 this year.

The whirring noise stops when the clutch is all the way to the floor. It is only noticeable when I'm in neutral and clutch is released (pedal up). I think this could be the input shaft, but I didn't notice it before the mechanic mentioned it.

The TOB bearing noise (much louder, and only happens sometimes) is only when the clutch down to the floor. When the truck is in gear, no noise.

the throwout bearing chatter on yours does Not go away even if you gently press on the pedal with your finger?
that is what is happening on mine at the moment (after only 12k miles into the new clutch) in addition to the whirring noise idling in neutral
and there is no telling what the abnormal-to-me whining is while approaching 3k RPMs or if that is completely normal in the later year's of the R150F or totally something else going on in there (transfer case?)

I need to find a better youtube channel that can explain what is going on, i have watched so many so far, mostly Timmy the Toolman videos

Sorry, just noticed your post. I didn't try the finger test before I left it at the shop. That TOB was getting loud! It turns out I have a failed center support bearing for the main driveshaft, and the pilot bearing was completely seized. I'll post back when this expensive adventure comes to a close. At least for now. I've got a minor valve cover leak. There's just a little metallic sheen in the tranny oil, but nothing major. I'm leaving the tranny as is for now.
    More soon...

If the pilot bearing was completely seized did the shop guy show you the condition of the input shaft tip which the pilot bearing fits upon

Yes, about a month after. So far pretty good. The new clutch is great. I had them also fix the center support bearing on the main driveshaft. They said the tip of the input shaft was fine. They didn't have pics.

The only time I really hear the input shaft bearing is when the truck is loaded and under strain. I might hear it a little now and then. I just couldn't put another $2k in at this time to rebuild the tranny.

When under load going uphill, it has an exhaust smell between 1500 and 2000 rpm. It had this years ago and my former mechanic chased that issue for a while. Finally it was tolerable. It came back after the clutch work. I have new cats from earlier this year, and it seemed fine then.
    Thanks for checking in.

Since the thread got revived I'll update for science.
Been a few years since it was replaced but mine ended up going out at 270k. Hopefully this one lasts to 500k.

is there any way you know of to test the cat to see if it is still operating efficiently?
