Hey guys. So I own “sub-zero fabrication”. Recently I took the dive into a custom exhaust build for my not currently supercharged truck. But the system was built and designed around the future prospect of boost.

This is an equal length Y pipe dumping into a straight through 3” system with resonator/muffler.

I am entertaining the idea of producing these Y pipes for 2nd and 3rd gen trucks.

All materials are the most top shelf 304 stainless money can buy with no cut corners. Fully TIG welded AND back purged.

I have a sound clip up on my @906taco instagram if you would like to hear it. It’s epic.

Looks awesome! Pretty sure the y-pipe on 3rd gens is different. They also have those weird heads with exhaust manifolds built in so they can’t get the same truly equal length exhaust like 2nd gens

We will see about that! Going to get my hands on a 3rd as soon as a jig is built for 2nd gen’s!

The EL ypipe looks great! Hope you make them available for those that didn't get in on the Roostfactor ones.

No disrespect, when you said Subzero... I almost shit the bed thinking it was the race shop in Dubai expressing interest in the Tacoma/Hilux platform.

No YT at the moment. I will work on changing that!

It’s still under the knife finishing the rest of the little bits up. I will do some pulls soon!

I'm one lucky dude and was able to snag a 'new' in box TRD branded S/C by proxy from @Scott B. (1st buyer decided to resell). Anyways, the question I have is since this thing has been sitting in a box for the past almost decade, would it be wise to change out the S/C oil prior to running it? I know it def wouldn't hurt but I wanted to get input from the TW hivemind. Anyone know the typical shelf life of the oil? Thanks!

    Is oil OK? Probably
Would I personally change it? Yes

The last TRD cast superchargers were sold in 2015, right? So that oil is 9 years old. I’m not a chemical engineer, but I’d change it for peace of mind.

Is the oil in there synthetic? If so, I wouldn’t bother changing it.

Yep, that's what I'm leaning towards.

Good question. I'll have to check the manual that came with it.

the oil chamber of the supercharger is sealed from the atmosphere, so the oil will (not) oxidize or get moisture. i would not worry about it. if you go to socal superchargers web site they have studies on the oil ran in the m90 or mp90 for 100k and the oil composition was still good. i know that's not shelf life, but good info for the quality of the oil.

    edit: just caught a typo.

    That looks killer!

Personally I would also offer a dual exhaust style setup for these trucks. Boosted trucks have A LOT to gain from not having to cram all that exit airflow into one single entrance like the stock style Y and it also should drop your boost pressure down by .5 to 1 psi, allowing you to run an even smaller pulley than what you currently run.

All that, plus the trucks sound absolutely killer despite being V6's once you truly dual them out all the way through.
