Either there is not much drivetrain loss or Toyota is under reporting the power numbers. Not too shabby either way.

TFL did a towing video at elevation with the Land Cruiser. Same Hybrid, but the LC is fulltime 4WD.

I agree, looks much better in person. And the interior makes more sense when you actually sit in one. Definitely interested now, as long as I can afford one.

The Tundra had some beefy tires on it, so I know part of it was that. I had a 2017 3rd Gen, and I think the ride height is a key difference. I think I’ve gotten used to it after two months. My 2017 rode on tires one size up and no lift, but it was definitely easier to maneuver on the back roads where I live. Agree about neither being better or worse regarding their size, only different.

Slower than a base model Ranger, embarrassment to market this hybrid setup as giving more power and not focused on giving you good fuel economy when it kinda sucks at both.

Base model Ranger as in the little bitchassed 2.3L?

To be fair, it's a Limited, but to my eyes the air dam, exhaust, and spare tire seemed too low to the ground when I looked at this one Monday.
The iPad screen doesn't do much for me either.

Yep, these two dudes posted a faster time in the Ranger with the 2.3 over this iForce Max Tacoma.

I’m sure you could feel the difference when towing and needing a short burst of that extra torque, but nonetheless it is woefully unimpressive that the most powerful Tacoma (which achieves this by eliminating even more space in an already tight back of cab) is still slower than a work truck Ford Ranger.

imagine how badly the 2.7 TTV6 Ranger will smoke these Tacomas when it goes on sale

IMHO, Blue Crush is a nice color. But on the Sport or OR.

And….it’s a Ford….I’d rather have an unproven Taco than the Ranger. My Taco feels somewhat old school, back to basics Toyota pickup in a way that I like. If the engine and drivetrain are less potent and understressed, then I’m good with that since that’s been Toyota’s successful recipe for reliability for a very long time.

Toyota’s quality today and Ford’s quality is a wash. Toyota can’t claim reliability with their new models any more. Just look at the tundra…. If anything, I’d say the 2.3 4 cylinder ecoboost, the 2.7 6 cylinder ecoboost, and the 3.5 6 cylinder ecoboost are more reliable than the 2.4 I force and the 3.4 I force. I think nowadays Toyota cares more about paying off their 2 billion dollar debt than their “ReLiaBiLity” rep.

Not to be disagreeable, but is that claim your professional expert conclusion as a data analyst? Or is it just your internetz opinion fed by YouTubers?

I think the regular 2.4 iForce is a good powertrain, I’m saying the Max version is seemingly pointless

I have never owned one, but my nephew sold his Ford after they had to pull the engine (on warranty) twice. There was some plastic part in the engine that failed.

Anecdotal... but they replaced the flawed part with a flawed part.
