As I have gotten older it has become less hot to me. LOL My last one was maybe 2002, before that it was pretty common, this trip my back decided to let me know it was boss. It had started throwing hints in the late 80 and I moved from a closed cell pad to a lightweight Allagash cot to shut it up, this trip it decided if I used the cot it was fine if I got up every two hours and walked around for 20 minutes or so. LOL It became more trouble than it was worth. I think I am not alone, last time I walked in to REI they had more family camping stuff than the hard core hiker stuff they used to specialize in.

This tent was a pain in the ass to get in and out of.

howdy moto bros. just dropped in to try to catch up on the convos.

Me too! I learned my chops and fell in love with bikes in Azusa Canyon in the mid 80's. This scenery takes me back.

Hope everyone finds time to get out with the wierd work schedules over the next few days. I managed a couple hundred miles with pals last weekend, hope to do more of the same this coming weekend. Hate that my job forces me into my truck during the week.

Grabbed a nice pic the other night. Midwest summer night.

    Thanks.

Never too late. The bang for the buck ratio is hard to beat. If you are someone who likes to do their own maintenance, there are many bikes out there in the 2500-4500 range that'll make you very very happy.

I put HH's on the rear of the Super Tenere as well. I'll report back on how the pads and rotor lasts. I've already kind of messed up the rotor by eating the pads down to metal so I should look into replacing it at some point.

I dont know the size on the Bolt, and not sure how sporty you ride. But I have used Avon, Metzler, Dunlop, Barum, IRC, Kenda and Shinko. Never had a problem with any of them. Currently have Dunlop Trailmax on the BMW and Kenda 761's on the KLR650.

I dont know if I would put Shinkos on a hard nosed sport bike, I dont think I would put them on the GS just because it can run pretty fast for a long time. But they were good on the KLR 650 with it probably carrying more than its payload. They were dirt tires (244's) but other than wearing fast on the slab were fine. At the time I had them, I mounted them myself and used Ride-On to balance them. Two new tires and tubes were under $125 a while back.

The Kenda are what I would replace on either bike of mine right now.

    Just some light watching..

I'm a brand guy. When I can afford to, I buy Michelin or Conti. I just put a set of Michelin Road 5's on the GRiSO. If budget is more important for some reason, I've gone Shinko and been very Happy. I bought an old standard off a retired racer and it came with Shinko 712's. I wore out a rear absolutely wringing that bikes neck in the red river gorge last year, and immediately bought another of the same. I think the tire was like $80.00.

I've got a buddy who just put a set of 705's on a Stelvio, which is a 1200CC 540# ADV bike, we were out for a long ride this past weekend and he was digging them.

I've got another bud who puts cross tires on his rat bikes. Doesn't do a ton of miles but he goes all Shinko and really likes 'em. So there you have it.

I've only run one pair of Shinkos myself and that was largely because the 2014 FJR had a new Shinko front on it when purchased. I liked them on dry roads but with my style of riding rain is not out of the picture. On wet roads they literally scared the shit out of me. Not confidence inspiring at all on wet surface. Life span was reasonable and I could have gotten more miles out of them but Michelin had a rebate so I switched them out early to get on a tire I had more faith in. If you don't ride in the rain you'd probably be okay.
