I was watching my tailgate close and noticed that one side was flush with the fender. The other side is sticking out about 3/8 of an inch. I talked to the service manager and he is going to look at it to see if he can adjust or if it needs to go to the body shop.

I know that this does not sound terrible but I paid a lot of money for this truck and it should be put together with quailty fit and finish.

I am not thrilled it was built in Mexico.....

Has nothing to do being built in Mexico, many cars built in Canada,Japan and the USA have the same issues.

Apparently this is how it’s designed according to some who mentioned it to their dealers as well. All of them had it on the lot as well.

Can you open it half way and push it left and right a little? My 2nd gen does it.

That is correct push it left or right which ever direction it needs for the end gap to equal out on both sides and it might close flush.

When I bought my 2023 I had to have the dealer’s body shop align my bed, rear bumper, right rear door and hood.

    Far to much money spent.
Had to have the dealer correct the hood latch as the hood needed to be shoulder height then dropped to close and latch

They will probably put a come along in between the tailgate strikers and get Jimmy to crank down on it...

That is your opinion! My opinion is that building in Mexico was a mistake and if you look at how many times thay have had to shut down production, obviously Toyota thinks there is an issue also.

    Naw.

This is a Toyota issue, not a Mexico issue necessarily. Tacos have been built in Mexico forever, not new.

Sure it's a toyota issue, and in my opinion a build in Mexico issue. I

Giving an update to this issue, I took the Truck to dealership 2 weeks ago, a special tech worked with Toyota and are now suppose to be coming up with an alignment for all of the fitment issues on this truck. I have not heard back from them as of yet, issues inclued front fenders, rear fenders, and tailgate. Some of these parts are welded so not sure how this is going to go.
I will repost after I know more of what is going on...

    Define irony:

People complaining about trucks built in Mexico while they live in houses built by Mexicans.
