First Willie and now Orlando Cepeda. I met Orlando twice, the first time at a fundraiser and only shook his hand thanking him for being a good Giant. Later when they opened PacBell park, I went to a game really early to check out the new digs. I had read that there was a concession called Orlando’s and went to check it out. Sitting 40 yards from there, on a bench all alone was a 70 something old man enjoying the sun (rare in SF) I sat on the bench and started talking to him about the park the weather, the food and then Puerto Rico. Being an American of Mexican descent we spoke only in Spanish. If there was ever a time I was grateful for my parents insisting Their kids be bilingual it was then. It was maybe 20 minutes but it seemed like hours went by. He got up to leave and I shook his hand saying “Muchos gracias el Torito”. He said thanks for not asking for an autograph and ruining the peace and quiet.

My second hero gone in a ten day span. My hair is getting grayer everyday.

That's a very rough patch your cousin and family are going through! Wishing them all the best as they struggle through. It was great of you to stay in the ER with her; I still recall the countless hours spent in ERs with various family members, it's not a fun time at all.

    Morning all:

Geez Tom, when it rains it pours, wishing all the best for both of your family members.

The pond pipe is the drainpipe that keeps the pond at its water level, if I had known that a bear would be constantly pushing it over I would have gone with a different method for the overflow. Don't know if the noise from the water going into it attracts the bear, if it just considers it something to play with, or if it inadvertently bumps into it while enjoying the pond. It's PVC and I could glue it in place, but then there's a good chance that the bear would break it and then I would have an even bigger problem, I could also cap it at the bottom and then install a different overflow pipe through the berm, what's there works just fine as long as the bear leaves it alone!

A little something every chance we get.
    Here's to good results, Chuck.

And hoping thing get smoother for your cousins, Tom

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! No hangar day for me, I'm having some sort of issue with my hips and legs. Best as I can determine from WebMD and Dr. Google, bursitis in my hips, or rheumatoid arthritis. It's all pretty vague. Been a slow process to go from annoying to suddenly more painful this week. Hurts trying to put on socks. Don't do whatever it was that aggravated the issue (thanks), heat or cold, anti-inflammatories. Can't get to the Ortho my Dentist recommended until Aug 21! But, I see my PCP on the 16th, so I will tell her I will be complaining about this instead of the kidney issue they are concerned with. Can't see THAT specialist until OCTOBER! Heart Dr. #2 cut my daily Lasik in half, and the test number they worried over immediately changed for the better.

Guess I will just do periodic putz, and maybe water pots. Check the greenhouse mod. Read the R-2800 book. Sheesh, just falling apart this year.

I was told several years ago I had the beginning of arthritis in my hips and lower back. Lost a little bit of weight and began exercising and walking more. Stretching really helps me a lot but my issue is that once it feels better I back slide and quit stretching. I can honestly say the stretching has given me the biggest improvements.
