Yeah, it does match the time period and is better than the 2x2 framed, RV sheeting outside - paneling inside things that were out also at that time. (That was my dad's first cap...it shook apart in about 5 years. Probably wouldn't last one of your jaunts!)

I almost forgot this conversation I had with my son last week. He had been by his grandmother's house and tells me with a chuckle: I guess I got a resolution passed in the village.

Well, last year for the 4th, he brought about $400 worth of fireworks over there to put on a show. Not small stuff by any means! Big ole up in the air, booming stuff that was probably visible and audible for a couple of miles!

Apparently, someone remembered in May and put the kibosh to the possibility of a repeat this year in the form of a resolution at the monthly Village Meeting. Afterward, my ex-MIL was informed by letter of the resolution. She didn't think to keep it, I would have had it framed!

 

So how big is the fireworks gonna be this year?

 

Joke's on them, they went through the bother for nothing. My son and his grandmother are going up north this year...his mother moved to Sayner, and they're spending the 4th helping her move into her new house.

My neighbor is already lighting off mortars.

Neighbor has a class III fireworks permit. He has a party the weekend after the 4th every other year and his shows would rival a small towns fireworks. Theiyre're () launching 50 ft. in front of you. Last year the show lasted 45 mins. Says it costs around $2k for everything. When he lights off a 6'' or 8'' mortar, it will rock your world.

 

How do I get one of those permits?
