As me and my buddy was toolin' around the back roads of the Land of Lincoln I had a thought....

I asked him...'what if we open a hotdog stand and call it Eat Our Weiners?'
I think that would be a huge success.

I’m just gonna drink my coffee and think about how the worms will be eating my body and transforming it into ecologically beneficial waste products. That’ll cheer me up

 

Nah, they're indoor/outdoor cats.
The little buggers have plenty of things to entertain themselves with.


Side note:
Tuesday morning a bear sauntered through here, as casual as you please.
I would have missed it... if not for the racket made by trash cans being tipped over

 

When I got up this morning:

Me: "Happy Fourth of July!"

Mrs Gritto: "Firecracker, firecracker, boom boom boom!"

 

So, the city has released its planned activities for today’s celebration. Kicking things off with a parade, gellyball and foam entertainment, (whatever the hell that is) all day musical performances by bands nobody has ever heard of, pie eating contests and last, but not least, a spectacular fireworks display sponsored by the fire department. Followed by the annual cluster fuck of trying to get out of the city park. I will not be attending any of the festivities because…I don’t want to.

 

Morning Whatevers

 

Woke up with a sore throat and double ear ache

 

Our local volunteer fire department does quite a respectable fireworks display too.
They do it in the big field behind the high school.

Mrs Gritto and I usually drive to the adjoining Renfrew Park and walk a mile to see it.
Just try finding a place to park in town

When it's really hot and humid (like it usually is here on the 4th), the lightning bug display is almost better than the fireworks.
Renfrew is an old farm and gristmill with beautiful stone mansion, kept as it was over 200 years ago.
The fields are planted in corn and soybeans, with walking trails.

For the past 30 years Mrs Gritto and I have gone there on the 4th (most years).
We take our time walking back to the Renfrew parking lot, letting the traffic clear out
