21% Tax? (Fellow Californian) 11% "Sin Tax", what is your local sales tax? (7.75% for 92131) Yours is 10% Sales Tax?

 

Sorry I was off by a big 1.5%. Sales tax here is 8.75%. So we are paying 19.75% tax on guns, ammo, parts. In addition there is a 10% federal excise tax on pistols , but that’s a separate issue. There are cities in the Bay Area where the sales tax totals 10.75%. So depending where you buy the gun your tax ranges from about 19% to almost 22%. No matter 19 or 22% it’s a damn rip off.

 

Agreed. The "selling point" for the additional tax is supposed to go toward a questionable program, I'm betting it will get spent on something entirely different.

 

Agree. Not positive but I think it goes into the general fund and what it gets spent on we can only guess.
