Went to change oil today, removed skid plate and found this red bubble gum substance leaking from the clamshell seal on the front diff.

its red, which is vaguely similar to the Redline oil I used to fill. i assume I overfilled and this is the result? if thats the case, is this like bad, very bad, or no big deal?

    pic attached.

    Looks like RTV to me.
Normal, as it is what is used to seal the two halves.

Leave it alone. Don't pull it off.
If it really bothers you, use a razor blade and cut it off.
    But don't pull at it.

    Yep, sealer.

Redline would never hang like that. It would be dripping.

i have been under this truck 50 times and never noticed this, lol. replaced the front diff fluid twice myself.

it does seem like the factory sealant now that you say that..just seems like alot of it so I was concerned.

i am just very oblivious i suppose. lol thank you both!

You could trim it off with a razor which would let you forget about it. :D

Don't feel bad. Over many years I've often looked at stuff and wondered what the heck is that, or what is it from?
