Anyone have experience getting the OTT from Midwest Yota out of Toledo? I’m considering and wanted to check here first.

    Thanks

OTT is not an alternative, as it runs off of VF tunes software.

$75 to gain access back to your $700 worth of tunes? No brainer for me, support the time and effort put into the tunes and software updates .

I can say, I did get the free upgrade for my last few tunes and if i had to do it again and pay 75 i wouldnt pay because the small difference between the tunes that can be accessed through the old program from KDmax tunes and the new tunes wasnt enough of a difference to me to feel like i got a significant bump. If i was going from OVtune last issue before he quit and one of KDmax last few tunes I think there is a difference.

Wow I’m def done with tunes after reading VFtuners response to ops issue. New features? Will I even use any of those if I’m just flashing a pre-made tune? Usually companies email you about shit like this. Quietly letting peoples stuff essentially become bricked is such a shit thing to do to your customers.
Had I known I would have upgraded, but there is no emails, no VF tuner forum anymore it just disappeared like almost everything else this company promised. They clearly only care about the tuners now, not the normal customers who just wanted a decent driving truck from back in the day. Least I know I can delete all this shit off my PC now

im just happy that the last tune i got from him didnt cause my vehicles engine to shut off after 6k rpm. That was a big surprise when it first happened to me passing someone.

It’s a joke. A final tune was one of many things talked about before things changed dramatically.

Are the new tunes any good? I haven’t upgraded my tunes since i bought forever ago. I’m curious if the $79 gets me a new “seat feel” power.

There are two big tuners out there. OTT and Yotawerx. Either of them will be a prettty big upgrade if you’re still running an OG OVTune file.

Shaun Carter (Midwest Yota Tuning) in Toledo installed my OTT tune in April. Good dude, no issues. I drove down to his house in Toledo from north of Ann Arbor (bit over an hour away). Love the difference it makes, I went with Mild/Medium. More "perceived" power/response and shifts are much smoother. Towed my camper for the first time after the tune last weekend and the Medium (ECT "on") worked great at keeping proper gear for locked torque converter/lower transmission temps (I monitor with OBD fusion app).

Is that to upgrade your tuning program?

If it is, you can then get files emailed to you from the tuner and install it yourself. Most have a few throttle sensitivity settings and it’s nice to be able to try them and see what you prefer. Also nice to be able to go back to stock if you need to.

I bought the ovtune years ago and have been running the 91 tune for a long time. I reached out to them to see if they had upgraded tunes and was told the upgrades were no longer free. So I’m curious if the $79 new tune pack is worth it. Having spent several hundred to get the original stuff i didn’t want to jump to a new tuner and drop another $500+ if i could help it. But i was curious if the tunes are that much different.

I'm hoping my package still works as I haven't run it for a while. I've updated to the last version before he required the wireless dongle since I'm not going to buy another piece of hardware just to access the tunepack files I've already bought. I totally agree with OP that the lifetime access thing was a lie.

I'm hoping that I can just stay at the last version of software that works with the Tactrix wired connector since I'm planning on updating my ECU with the latest dealer update via TIS and then buying a standalone tune file from OTT and flashing it myself since I have the software and have flashed my ECU with the original OVtune tune pack files. If I connect and it *forces* an update then I'm screwed...

I'm pretty sure the change in the tune file format was 95% driven by copy protection worries and focused 100% on his money-makers--the so-called "pro" tuners that are willing to pay anything and buy all of his updates. He wanted to protect the files and prevent them from being sold separately I'm betting, which may mean I'll be unable to buy a file from OTT and tune my ECU myself...which means the nearly $800 I spent was just wasted. Still hoping for the best, guess I'll see.

I have major regrets in regard to my Orange Virus (VF tuner) purchase. Now that yotawerx and overland tunes are out and obviously superior, I’m having serious buyers remorse.
