Sick! I bet that thing is a riot on the track! I cross shopped the SDR when I was looking for my next bike, but kept getting pulled back to the V4.

    I had an 04, 2 quick stories.

Dropped in an HD dealer trying to buy a standard Electra Glide, talked to their mechanic about break in. So many miles at this speed, so many at that speed, vary the throttle, and so on. List on it was $13325, guy told me it's yours for $16325, theres a $3,000 availability charge. Fuck that, went to a Honda dealer, list on the wing was $18k, he came down to $16k, talked to a tech about break in. He said what ya thinking? I said next week, Utah, Nevada and California. He said perfect break in. LOL

Wife amd I were on a 2 week trip, between Blanding and Hanksville UT we kind of got stuck behind 4 Harley, 2 sportsters with women and 2 Roadkings with men. They were spread out over maybe an 1/8th mile and I was on cruise running maybe 75. As I closed on the rear sportster they closed up to the bike ahead, that bike closed to the next all the way until they were all running about where I was. So I bumped a few mph back on the cruise to just stay back. They all slowed down again, so we repeated it. They sped up, then when I back off they slowed. After two times I told my wife, I aint fucking around and doing this all day, next time, I'm making the pass.

When I started the pass they started speeding up, they got up to about 95, we made the pass on the lead bike at 117 according to the GPS. My wife told me, they dont look happy. LOL

Nice Jackal, I actually tried one (maybe Stone, dont remember for sure) when the first came out with it. Sounded great but I had issues with the floorboards and heel/toe shifter. I decided Italians must have smaller feet than my 12's. LOL I had to turn my foot at an angle on the left floorboard or it got hung between the heel and toe of the shifter. I thought hard about a V7 but they were a little light on horsepower at the time. Ended up with a F800GS.

Nice that’s a good list there. I really like how that swing arm cover looks. Mine’s still stock except a couple things to make it better for distance. I can’t wait to ride it on track. Thanks will check out that guys channel too.

Haha I did the same cross shopping but got addicted to the twin after trying it out. Beautiful Ape! You have fine taste in motos.

Looks great. I bet that windscreen is a nice improvement. I found the peg position to be limiting (maybe limiting isn't the right word, more just not very compatible) for my body English on track, you may want to consider either some form of riser plate or a full rearset. Have fun out there!

Here's how the new pipe on the Africa Twin sounds. Just light half throttle roll ons, was still in town.

Spyders aren't sketchy because the don't try to lift a wheel in a turn. Trikes are inherently unstable.

Filmed my first video in a while and swapped out the stock levers on my Grom for some Womet tech ones. Real bummed my camera was pulling the wrong focus for this thumbnail  It grabbed the end of the handlebar instead of the lever, whomp whomp. Real big fan of the weird AF thumbnails with me lurking in the background.

    DSC01160.jpg

I'll probably go with this much less exciting one after I crop and edit it down :pout:

    DSC01152.jpg

The levers themselves seem to be fantastic quality. Dropped one on the ground accidentally and zero scratches, fit and finish was great, machining work was super fine. They weren't cheap (at least not cheap compared to no name Amazon specials) but I'm tickled with them.

1290 motors are insane with how much power n torque they make.

KTM as a whole i wouldnt say is the most reliable but it really comes down to maintenance.... i did have a buddy blow up 6th gear in his LC8 1290 motor in a ktm adv bike with like 30k miles on it just cruising. Tho.... hes not the best on maintenance and clutchless shifts almost all the time.

Me, who clutchless shifts 100% of the time (nervous laughter). I follow my own made up competition service intervals though so hopefully that helps. Best part of a naked twin is it's easy to swap the motor right?

Yeah if you are good with fresh oil I don't think you will have too much of an issue... But clutchless shifts just give me the heebie jeebies, those poor dog teeth tho with quick shifter tech it's probably a mute point when used proper

I dont think they were that aware they were doing it until it became inevitable that they were going to be passed. LOL

Naw I have seen the groups of Harley riders do exactly this to me as well. They want to be up front cus they are "superior" (I'm generalizing not all of em are like this), but the ones in a club with a vest on in a group are almost always like this.

They are just mad that a bike half the price has 2x the HP and way more reliable. Always loved trolling the "hard Harley dude" on a VTX1800... That quiet sewing machine would walk on anything from harley

Thanks and yeah the windscreen does make a difference. I intended for this to be my sport touring bike and very happy with it so far. Appreciate the recommendations will see how it goes!

These looked more like Doctors or Lawyers and their girlfriends. LOL

I really dont think it started intentionally, I think it became an effort when they saw me ease to the left lane and not drop back behind them. I had a pretty good head of steam up before they realized it was a serious pass.

Eh, I think it's a good alternative for those injured or infirm who still want to ride. For able bodied folks it's just a more relaxed way to ride. If they were half the price I'd ride one. :bikewhoops:

I'm in the clutchless shift all the time camp, too. Feels sooo good. Full throttle, ever so gentle pressure up on the shifter, roll off for half a heartbeat and it just slips in. Such a great feeling. It doesn't take much to unload the transmission and things just mesh with no drama.

Classic Ari video, pre-blowing his face off with fireworks:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viWuolNYGyI

That being said, I do have a false neutral between fifth and sixth that has bitten me in the ass muuuuuultiple times if I'm not firm enough

All the goldwing does is make me look at Hayabusas more seriously. The new ones are pretty fuckin dope, so many bells and whistles. My track days are behind me, having ridden sport bikes my whole adult life, a new Busa wouldn't be the worst thing at all
