    1. It has probably been done

    2. Why. It's not that expensive to replace your Auto. The Auto is not bad. You're not paying for a replacement Auto. You're paying for another person to do things for you. That is not required.

    3. The cost of manual will still be high

    4. It is possible to simply get the truck you claim to want. Sell yours. Get the truck. Done.

    5. That is a lot of work to get an RA60F, that has issues. Including the TOB design. If you even do that. Otherwise you're looking at other transmissions, such as potentially FJ, 3rd gen, etc.
That is something we are all dealing with who got a manual Tacoma. Swapping in another different manual.

I manual swapped a German car. Japanese cars are easier to work on. All it did was cost money and time. And it wasn't even the best submodel to be doing that in the first place.
I'd understand it more if it was a model that didn't come in manual at all, trying to make it so.

The OP is likely wanting a R155 (2wd) or R155F (4wd) since he is 2TRFE equipped or so I thought.

DCLB's didn't come with a manual option and DBSB's aren't even real trucks:rofl: so buying the model I wanted isn't even a thing. I had to build it. And after doing so, I gotta say, it's pretty dang awesome.

    ACLB manual

I have lived in a short bed. Putting a Ute tray would extend it to 6’ while raising departure angle. Making it have a proper bed in a truck already manual.

Sorry OP. I know a lot of the discussion here is completely irrelevant to your question in the first post. Hopefully someone will come along and tell you how to put a 5MT R155 into your 2010 2WD regular cab with a 2TRFE. If you do this, you will be happy because it really does help on hills and such.

If I want to keep it below $2,500 and get the truck back in a timely manner, this isn’t a viable option; I have also been told that the foot-pedal parking brake isn’t compatible with the clutch pedal location…

My truck has a factory max tow rating of like 3,500 pounds, and it is probably a few hundred pounds higher with the add-a-leaf suspension kit; I never towed with my truck until after it had over 150K miles, I’ve towed three times (four times if you count the time I moved an empty 16-foot Ringo trailer around the parking lot at work), and I don’t think I’ve ever pulled more than 2,500 pounds at any given time.

The first time I really towed (as in on a highway for several miles) was in March 2023, when I borrowed the aforementioned 16-foot single-axle Ringo from work to move my girlfriend back down to Bucks County. The combined total of both the trailer (which weighs 1,000 pounds) and all of the stuff I was hauling probably weighed in at about 1,500 pounds.

I also rented Uhaul trailers on two separate occasions in November 2023 and April 2024 to haul scrap, and these probably weighed in at about 2,000-3,000 pounds. Neither one of these were towed on the highway, only locally and less than 10 miles from the Uhaul place. One was enclosed, one was open, and both were single axle…

Is it possible that towing these relatively small loads hastened the decline of my transmission oil pump?!?!

Amanda and I went to our friend Ryan’s house today, and I had a little fun with BeamNG.drive. One of my favorite vehicles is this 1990-1991ish 2WD 2-door SUV that combines design elements of 1973-1991 Chevy K5 Blazer/GMC Jimmy, 1980-1986 Ford Bronco, and 1981-1993 Dodge Ramcharger. It has a 423cid/6.9L big block V8, 4-speed automatic transmission, and limited-slip differential by default. These pictures were taken before I did a 4x4 conversion and manual-swapped the truck, and also before I swapped the bench seat for buckets. I had already lifted it and accessorized it, however; I also scrapped the stock front disc/rear drum setup for 4-wheel disc brakes…

I had done the 5-speed manual swap at this point, but top speed was the same with the 4-speed automatic…

At this point, the truck had a locking diff in place of the factory limited-slip diff, but was still 2WD; I guess that made it a PreRunner…?
