No. It burns like crazy though getting a whiff of it. I can see why it was used in chemical warfare, it is very effective lol.

I have breathed in tons of the stuff over the years in very small amounts. I seem to be ok...? It usually forms when you heat up the oil and the trapped refrigerant suddenly boils off and floats through the open flame of a torch. This is on a R22 system.

Yeah once you catch a whiff of it you immediately hold your breath until you can swing away from whatever you are facing. It is almost involuntary the reaction to it. It's wild. I couldn't imagine the hell that would be to be in an area with it forced to inhale it or gasp for air filled with it.

    From your link:

"this odor has been described as similar to that of new-mown hay or cut green corn,"

I call bullshit on this one lol. IMO it smells like burning chlorine. It hurts your nostrils on the inhale immediately.

Take your PPE seriously people. I didn't when I was young and am mostly ok as of now, but if I knew then what I know now...

I really like the Chinese writing on it. Everyone thinks getting stuff from China is a relatively new thing, but this unit is 45 years old and has it.

The compressor in the neighbor’s 1985 York Stellar shit the bed after nearly 40 years. The owner of the company doing the replacement used to be a bouncer at the bar where I used to work, and unfortunately another scrapper has already answered the call, but he did let me keep a souvenir that I will post a picture of later…

What unit is 45 years old? That reversing valve came out of a rooftop A/C for a camper, and I doubt it’s 45 years old. The 1977 Tappan that I scrapped had a Copeland recip from 1986, so I honestly have no idea what a compressor that old looks like…

Hey Charlie I’m looking at getting a mini split unit for my garage, any recommendations? I’m leaning towards the Mitsubishi p series units, I will install myself so labor is not a factor.

Mitsubishi is great, and Fujitsu is also good, but do you have your EPA certification?

Do you have it or not? I don’t think Mitsubishi or any of the other brands will sell to you if you don’t have an EPA certification…

I don’t know why I only tagged three of you, but here is the 1985 York’s replacement. The Heil probably will not last as long as the York, but properly maintained, I see it lasting 15-20 years. It has a scroll compressor, so it is much quieter, and it is also obviously more efficient…

I don't think they have someone who does just that. They've got housekeeping and maintenance; I have no idea who cleans the A/C units...
