Very cool! I never did know what El Camino was named after either. I do remember trying to impress my folks by telling them who the streets were named after when I was old enough to know. They played along. LOL Another cool area close by was the housing development that we called the Garden of the Gods, near cottage and mission. All streets named after Roman gods.

:rain: The things ya' gotta do to coax some rain that isn't from a Hurricane. Blobs to the West all afternoon; growing, mutating, and NOT moving East at any speed! Only a 30% chance, so I have to water yard after this week if it doesn't make it.
    • washed truck while running errands - nothing
    • wife watered all pots front and back - nothing
    • put the umbrellas down, then went and tied them when the wind picked up - nothing
    • ran sprinkler in 3 areas out back, and
    • started it out front. Nothing
Half hour in to the watering, it finally started. Then got actual. Ended up with 0.94" in an hour, and it's still rumbling though I expect no more.

Planning on the car show in Pflugerville tomorrow AM, and I have a chair loaded if I can't walk enough. And box fans to donate

I call them weather guessers rather than weather forecasts; they can’t read Mother Nature!

I need to head out there on these days, deploy the batwing awning, set up the espresso maker, and enjoy your company. There are too many honeydews to get done around home.

The kids showed up for dinner last night. My son grilled shrimp, and my daughter made a nice cold summer salad. It was enjoyable as they pitched in and left the kitchen spotless before leaving. Much appreciated.

We got a cantilever umbrella set up for my wife (she sits on the back porch, and a pergola is a full shade, but that extra 20' is too much for her walk, so she likes the chair next to the back door for her smoke breaks. The new umbrella is to provide shade, or rotate 180 to shade the grill. We need to pick up 250 pounds of sand for the base.

The plants got nicely watered yesterday. About 4" of rain for us (pool refilled nicely).

111 again yesterday, cooling down to 106 today. The wild fires have started again here in California. There’s at least a dozen consuming several thousands of acres. I’m 40 miles from the closest to me. I can smell the smoke that’s drifted here. Already been shopping and did a few other chores. Going out to the pool in a few minutes and then another day of hanging out in the A/C.
Too hot to go fishing, to hot to even take the boat out. Oh well. Stay cool and stay safe all.

Only made one slow trip around the lot this morning; one was all I could make, but it didn't feel so bad as the rest of this week. Heck, I was home before the coffee pot turned off at 10:30, and brought donuts. Here's what I got for you, and in a single post!

That's all this time. Hopefully, I make the Cars & Coffee at COTA next Sunday.

Oh yeah. Fan Drive for Family Eldercare of Austin. Mine are in the big shopping basket somewhere.

And, sorry, @roundrocktom , they don't allow awnings, EZ ups, or even chairs occupying parking spots. Every space is normally filled. You can park with the back row Toyota trucks, and sit in a chair tho!

Well, it was fun while it lasted, but we're not even in the Cone of Excitement anymore. Looks like we'll get some outer band rain tonight and early tomorrow, but that will probably be it.

Today was church in the morning. Then a light grocery trip for a few things.
And now I have a 6 lb. leg of lamb in the rotisserie, the house smells so good! Will be having a nice salad with it.

Oil Change #7 is done and completed. There are 35554 miles on the odometer.

Walmart had Mobile 1 full synthetic 0/20W in five-quart bottles for $24.80. I still have some single-quart bottles, enough for the 6.2-qt oil and filter change. My biggest challenge is recycling old engine oil back into empty 5-quart containers. I always have that uh oh moment, realizing 6.2 quarts in the drain pain. My old FJ40 used 8.5 quarts, and I had a 7.5-quart drain pan. Oops.

The oil drain plug washer got stuck to the pan, hence the dental pick. It's also super handy for removing the old o-rings. It's convenient to have the torque numbers right next to me. Yes, I have a Japanese NM torque wrench.

I'm sure you have heard the saying.... "little boys that get beat up in school grow up to be cops, and little boys that lie grow up to be weather forecasters". My granddad reminded me to be neither, so I did 30 in Uncle Sam's canoe club.
