I took some damage to my stock rear bumper back in March while wheeling in the Ozarks. I had originally wanted to replace the front bumper and get a winch up there, but now the rear needs to be done first. The C4 bumper is in my top 3 right now. I want a high clearance bumper to help avoid future damage.

So, question for anyone here with the rock runner rear bumper... can you still fit a spare 33 in the spare tire location? I had to do a bit of hammering and a slight relocate of the hoist and an exhaust chop, but I can currently fit a 285/75/16 up there. Not sure it matters, but I like the double tube design best. Guessing if you can fit it with one you can fit it with any of them.

Yes, I realize it will hang kinda low, but I would likely only have it under there when I needed to use the bed, which is pretty often... so maybe most of the time when I'm not wheeling. Then it would be in the bed or on some future roof rack.

I contacted C4 and was told that a spare cannot be mounted in under the bed in the stock location. Oh well... I'm guessing that will be the case with any of the available high clearance rear bumpers out there.

I'll have to figure out a bed mounting system and an easy way to unload and load the 90lb spare when I'm camping and sleeping in the truck bed.

Ordered the Rock Runner rear bumper in the double tube design yesterday. Father's day sale saved me $150!

Looking into coatings now. Thinking I may try Steel-It.

Without starting a new thread, does anyone have photos of the C4 lo pro bumper on their 3rd gen tacoma along with the “viper cut” clearance cut?

I think thats what I have currently. My viper cut is a bit aggressive and I chopped off the lower corners of the bumper so they line up better.

It will be up for sale soon with the light bar. This is the first pic that came up on the puter.

Got mine installed yesterday. Took a bunch of extra elbow grease to make the bumper supports work with the King resi mount and the skid plate to play nice with the RCI mid skid. Both involved a decent amount of fab work. Simple cutting, grinding, making new holes, just time consuming. I used the BD fogs with a galvanized L bracket and SS self tapping screws into the wings. Antenna is drilled into the bumper. Only issue I had was the C4 frame support would not go into place with out some hammering. Maybe my frame was a little pressed in. Used Steel it for the bumper and skid. C4 has some really good install videos, so I decided not to film it.

I want to mention, if you have a bumper with a winch already, this bumper will make the winch sit higher. I had to cut some of the front center support to make it all fit. It's like everything is higher and tighter than before. It's a bit more difficult to reach the free spool on the winch. I will most likely upgrade the PS cooler with the Mishimoto Fan combo down the road. The supplied cooler just looks real small next to it.

Have not gone to take a look at it today yet. I was getting these vibes after everything was done yesterday.

The Mishimoto with a fan. Linky --https://amzn.to/3xOQcmA

    Mine is zip tied too.
I'm running the one in the link for my tans cooler. Been working great, I could really tell up in the mountains. When I installed the one for the trans I ran a double line lead so the power is already there for a second one. I'll have it done before the Virginia Trip in October. Although, having to remove the bumper again to remove the grill sounds terrible right now.

I don't have a great pic of it installed. This one is a screenshot form one of my vids.

I did, they came out with them after I installed mine. I used the factory hardware/mounts with hammer. Holding up so far.

So you removed the OEM cooler? Did see a few folks just connecting the Mishimoto in series with the OEM one

Just to be clear, I did remove the OEM trans cooler and replaced it with the Mishimoto fan combo a while ago. As for the power steering cooler, the factory one was removed/ replaced with the one that came with the C4 crossmember delete. It is rather small, and will be updated soon to another Mishimoto fan combo cooler. Did that make sense?
