    :der:

    :puke:

Mine is gravity fed so if the power goes out for a long time, my shit will still drain away

That's how all the new systems are put in around here. Pumps effluent to the sand mound lines.

Mine is an old gravity fed, but closing in on 60 years old so it's due for a complete system replacement of a cool $30K plus o_O

If the power goes out here there's no flushing anyways since I won't have water :annoyed:

    That is stupid
All systems should be gravity unless it is physically impossible due to the grading/soil type

I can flush if the power goes out - till the pressure tank is drained..
But I also have a generator that will keep the pressure tank full so I'm good for at least a few days

Depends on if your property can pass a perc test. I doubt mine would pass. That's gonna be a bridge I will cross here eventually :annoyed:

    Ah ha!!

So my lot does pass a perc test - here, now, if you don't pass a perc, you can't build on it..
I'm sure the older houses kinda got away with it, maybe?
But the ones with pumps have grade issues - where the only spot it did perc was slightly above grade from the house structure = pump needed

You're allowed alternative systems here in PA if it fails. The problem I have is land and the way the house is situated, so it's going to be aerobic or sand mound. Well's are supposed to be 100' away from the drainage bed. Even though my well is in the front yard, I can assure you it is not 100' o_O

Current field actually goes on the neighbors property as when it was installed 60 years ago it was all family so it didn't matter. Fast forward 60 years it has changed hands. Although I think there's some lawyer mumbo-jumbo that protects me for now.

Dig a 14” hole in the ground and dump a 5 gallon pail of water in it . Then time it to see how long it takes the ground to absorb it . Every municipality has different rules .
