I did all that when we were putting up my daughter’s house . Have to dig with backhoe to examine the soil composition first . Then use post hole digger for smaller holes . Presoak the holes . Whole process . Forms to fill out , holes are numbered and water is timed over the coarse of a week to see how fast or slow it absorbs into the ground . PITA . I knew what the times should be so we got away with a traditional leach field which saved about $30K .

 

Every time they do it and I'm outside I'm like "what smells like sinuses bleeding?"

 

A week? We got sand here, water disappears in no time.

 

Now don’t get me started on the “ blower door test” they have you do now too

 

And here I thought PA was wacky...

 

All windows and doors closed in house except main entrance where a full screen door with a giant fan in it is installed . They turn on the fan so it sucks air from the house and take some kind of readings to find out the percentage of drafts and where your home is losing possible energy . Fucking NY green laws

 

It was the last thing we needed to do before my daughter could get the certificate of occupancy . Took 3 times to pass at $350 a pop . I finally had to call the assholes boss who was doing the test and give him grief . The young guy doing the test was a tree hugger douche bag and wouldn’t pass us because of one point .

 

I didn't know they let those loonies out of Albany or NYC

 

Soil here is weird...its mostly clay and we have two tank system...which im not fond of but rain will pool up a little in spots but drains/absorbs in short time. Yet pond has held water over a year now. Its low but not dry right now.

I dont know how this soil gets approved for perc test but i guess it does. The septic here was already done when we bought the property.

 

I think most of that shit is done just to get your money, nobody gives a shit about your house.

 

For sure! When we bought our first house in 1984, no home inspection no radon testing and no termite inspection. Nowadays you can’t buy a house without a mountain of bullshit!!
