You and many others also agree. The fact its not just one plant and more than just the limited amount they are claiming, seeing hybrids and 24s also fail, its a bigger issue or at least more widespread then they are initially saying.

They're going to have no choice but to do an engine revision. This is also going to sink the 550.

Part of me wonders if they'll do it in secret or just a part of an "upgrade" in the midcycle refresh for 2026 to save face.

I'm about to pull the deposit on my 2024, keep seeing new transmission issues popping up (along with QC issues and more evap cracks) and experienced similar hard shifts on the 2 I test drove. Capture.png

They can't burry the fix too deep otherwise the hordes of prospective buyers who aren't pulling the trigger never will.

You should maybe stop reading this shit and get what you want. If I had read all of the bad crap on the 3rd gen I would've thought I need a horse, but here I am sitting at 108,××× miles with nary an issue.

Its not like you're gonna keep a vehicle long enough to have problems anyhow.

Not sure what part of OH you live in but I reckon you're a 7-hour drive give or take from that dealer.

I doubt I'd go that far, but a good deal is a good deal lol. Luckily I am still in the research phase of truck buying.

Actually, I am still at the "I have no payment on a vehicle that works fine" stage of the process if i'm honest.

7 hours is a long way to buy a mass market vehicle, especially when the trip back home will be in a tow truck.

Yeah, but would you buy a 24 Tundra post recall? I wasn't really going to buy before, but after the recall no way. Now if I was already interested in a new Tundra and I waited this long, I'd have no problem waiting another year or two to see what happens. There's also the possibility the past few months, and right now could be the best time to get the lowest price on a new Tundra.

All new truck, has Toyota broken even on R&D? Toyota is going to spend more money on trucks they already sold. Tundra is Toyota's NA flagship, and Tundra represents GAF the entire platforms reputation is online, even though the recall is only for the ttV6. This new truck still carries the new Tacoma and new 4R reputation. I'm not sure if Toyota knows how bad this looks. Tundra already has an uphill battle out of the gate, against the domestics. Toyota is slow to innovate and Tundra isn't going see many improvements. Can Toyota build more Tundras, sell them for less than they currently are, keep their financial commitments to owners who have to be made whole, and still make money?

Not to mention what about resale values, thats why so many people stick with Toyota, if those drop to the same as domestic competitors there is literally no point and will lose alot of the converts.
