Replaced the B-Pillar vinyl today because it was faded (2019). Yes, I like the black. I used Toyota vinyl. Removal not hard but takes patience, a heat gun, and goo gone. Install was pretty straightforward. Used a putty knife to hold back the rubber trim.

Blacking out the chrome on the stocks. I'm not gonna lie .. grabbing black lugs and I'm not even sure if it needs the center cover... I like it!!

I like some chrome on vintage motorcycles...like my 1982 Suzuki GS750T.

It's not over-powering/bearing in chrome, per se but just enough for vintage look.

Crotch-Rocket...not so much on the chrome.

Nothing worth cleaning or to write home about! Just smaller weak fish, croakers and whiting. Sons had a good time so all in all a success.

Yep, that sounds about right. I’ve had nothing but bad experiences at dealerships spanning numerous different car manufacturers (not just Toyota). Worst one was when my elderly mother called me and told me the Nissan dealership told her that she had an oil leak and they wanted a silly amount of money to fix it.

I took her car to my mechanic and he said the dealership spilled oil on the engine cover when they were working on it and there was no oil leak. I have many other stories from Toyota, Ford and Dodge dealerships but that’s the generic theme. I haven’t gone to a dealership in years because of it. I know there are some TW members that work at dealerships so I don’t want to generalize but it sure seems that most dealerships are not to be trusted.

    Sorry that happened to you.

Finally got around to pulling the bed rail covers off and putting aluminum tape to seal up the holes. Then put Sikaflex 505 under the rail covers. Didn't take a pic of that as there really isn't much to see when it's done and I was more concerned with cleaning up the couple areas I put too much on before it set up. Would have been an even bigger pain to clean up I'm sure. Prepping for hopefully being able to pull the trigger on a camper cap here in the next few months.

I clearly should have waited to take the pics til after I wiped the inside of the bed. Looks dirty as hell in those pics. Which...it was. Would like to think this'll go a good ways to keeping it clean(er...ish)

I've got to ask, what's the purpose of this? I've had caps on all of my trucks and never did anything like it.

Supposed to keep a lot of the dirt, dust & water out. The 2 or 3 vids I've watched, looks like (at least some) of the companies that do the camper cap installs do this. Judging by the amount of dust and the (mild) drip marks I can see (not horrible, but it is noticeable) it is getting into the bed. (He shows the exact thing in the video I had going on) And from speaking to other truck owners that have done it, this method seems to work pretty well.

For reference, this is one of the vids I watched:

I've been to 3 different places in WI that all just put a strip of foam tape along the top of the bed rail, with a double layer in the front corners. The only place I get dust and the occasional little bit of water is around the tailgate. Water intrusion is usually only because of heavy rain and wind from the right direction.

It's your truck, you know the conditions you'll be seeing. Do what you feel you need to do.

I did a tailgate seal a few weeks ago. Seems to have helped. Like I say with this, spoke to a few people that did it, seemed to work for them. Far as it goes, it's already done now. Have to wait and see if it does the job. Guess, if it doesn't work, at worst I'm out about $20 and an hour of my time.

Looks like I'm just the state over to the West of you and spend several weekends a year in Wisconsin. So, same weather you're used to.

Yup, easy enough to do and not costly, time or money.
