I just checked the status of the passes and they're all closed right now so it looks like it'll be the U.P. or possibly the Georgia traverse. Probably going to end up in the U.P. though

I've been keeping an eye on the closures, too. I have a trip to the Silverton/Ouray area planned for July 8-13. I'd like to know how deep the snow is?

9,000-10,000 ft. in Colorado. Hopefully it'll be melted before I get there. I am not optimistic.

Hopefully the passes will open for you, I'm going to play it safe and stay in the U.P. I'll have to see how my September bid comes out and use a well timed sick call to get the days off I need. Then I'll bid 2 weeks of vacation back to back for next year

most passes usually dont open until sometime in June. Depending on the snowfall that year, its not unusual for it to be later.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
And I saw that Montana had some snow even last week!

I dunno. Neighbor is having a cook-out tonight and says he has a bit of entertainment for after dark. Other neighbor with the class III permit will be there, too. Pretty sure something will blow up.

In other news, I leave for Colorado Sunday morning. Everything is packed and piled in the garage. Saturday I'll fill up the coolers and load the truck. Then cut the grass as that won't be done for another 9 days.

Well fuck me. My Colorado trip took a shit. Driving through Glennwood Canyon, I lost all the lugnuts on the LR wheel. Somehow I managed to get it pulled over without crashing at 70 mph. The wheel hooked the rotor and stayed on the truck, but it was a very squerrily ride. The suspension looks really fkd up. Lower shock mount is bent.Tow bill was astronomical. I am now sitting around said repair shop awaiting for a damage report. This is gonna be expensive. The truck somehow has no body damage, and I didn't crash.

Glad you are okay. Truck is metal, you are not. Imagine what that bill for towing would have been out in the woods...
