I love that the spark plug replacement costs more than the transmission flush, which presumably includes the super expensive transmission fluid.

Dealer cost difference in parts is going to be negligible, and having done both, Id say the average mechanic would find the plugs more laborious.

This is about exactly what my independent shop charged and they are very trustworthy. The owner was a master tech at a Toyota dealership and left to start his own shop because of how poorly the dealership was treating customers.

They said the brake flush could wait just based on what they saw on my truck specifically (a lot of highway miles, very little brake use compared to mileage).

They also said some of the prices of parts had gone up because of the bridge collapse in MD (I had my 60K service done a couple weeks after that happened). That may not be the case anymore since that was a couple months ago now.

Some good info here. A few have mentioned it but maintenance should be based on time or mileage. Your 2019 could be 5 to 6 years old now. That's a good time to think about doing maintenance irrelevant of mileage. Serpentine belt, etc... I have a 2017 w/28k but have done all but the spark plugs so far.

You replaced the drive belt? You said “all” so I had to ask. I’m at 100k on my 17 and my belt is still good. It may have been changed before I bought it. But it is a genuine Toyota belt and all my research says it is the best on the market. Probably why it costs 125 at the dealer.

Toyota didn't make the belt, and it costs $125 at the dealer, because it's the dealer.. lol

Where do you get your belt from?

Love Rockauto, get most all my parts there for my truck and my wife’s Jeep. But I want an oem belt. Be interested in what others think concerning this. All my research suggested the belt that came on the truck is the best in the market. Which one did you go with?

Bando, but just put a Gates on the wife's 4runner.
I wouldn't hesitate to use either one, or a Continental for that matter..

The most annoying thing for me is a squealing belt. I just wonder about the durability and longevity of these aftermarket belts.

In all likelihood, Bando IS the OEM supplier.

search out one of the genuine Toyota parts dealers that have online ordering, I use Lewis Toyota in Topeka Kansas
you can get that OEM belt for 30 to 40% off MSRP + many of these outfits have no-extra shipping if your order is over 75$
these places have 'saved' this taco guy literally 1000s on new genuine quality parts for Gen1 and Gen2 rigs over the past few+ years

I have never, ever, bought a belt, or hose, or just about any routine maintenance auto part, from the dealer. I am 99.9% sure Toyota makes none of those parts. They use Denso and Aisin for most such components, and Bando was used for belts last I heard. I haven't read an auto trade journal recently so am out of touch on current manufacturers.

Yes. TX cases, coolant, brake fluid... And I change out batteries before they go out on a time schedule. I've had boat batteries go bad w/o warning and rather play it safe. Just had a tractor battery go completely dead w/o warning but that had a pull cord as backup. Just recommendations, not a requirement to do anything until it breaks.
