Sick! I’m up in Massachusetts right now and seem to have brought the humidity with me haha. Didn’t bring a bike this time, just kayak and running shoes haha

It’s brutal up here at the moment. Trying to motivate myself to get out on a bike today, it’s tough when its uncomfortable just standing outside!

It’s so bad, I went on a run this morning at like 7:30 and felt like I had just gone on a swim. I was going to bring my bike but figured I’ll just go paddling for a workout haha

Damn! I’m traveling up for work to Boston this week and was hoping to get a reprieve from the Alabama weather.

Hopefully it gets better haha, I’m here until Saturday so hoping it gets better. It will be better than Alabama, but not quite a normal New England week haha

I’m sure we’ll be better than Alabama, but we’re looking at a sticky week unfortunately.

This momma and calf refused to move.
I made noise, walked around, even asked politely.
Then she turned to me, huffed and stomped her hoof.
Ok, time to turn around. Sorry to bother your family outing.

We encountered a coyote that stood its ground and barked at us on the UCSC campus a few days ago. Though hiking with our dog not riding. I think it’s coyote denning season (puppies) and it was defending its territory. We gave it a wide berth. First time I’ve ever seen that. Had a moose run across the trail right in front of me in Victor Idaho a few years ago. We don’t usually ride in places with moose so it scared the heck out of me.

We just got back from a Whistler trip as well! Road-tripped up there from Utah and rode in Boise, Tiger Mountain, Bellingham, Squamish, North Cascades (Winthrop), and Coeur D'Alene along the way. It was very cool to experience how different the trails are in all of these places. In Whistler, we did half park days and half trail days on eMTBs. I love me some rock rolls!!!

I think our new life plan is to spend 9 months of the year in Utah and then go to the PNW for summer.

Edit: And so many bears!!! We had one push us part way down the climb up to Dark Crystal and a bunch just munching on grass right next to park trails! It's crazy how casual they are around bikers.

Based on the riding style you described, I can see why you wouldn't love a lot of the Whistler trails as they all seem to be very chunky and technical and very little casual crosscountry riding. With that said, there is plenty of solitude to be found on the singletrack around Whistler. We did a couple 20+ mile trail rides right from town and hardly saw a soul. I had a similarly peaceful experience in Squamish on the Alice lake trails as well.

I get what you're saying about Whistler Village though, it's a scene! We didn't find crowds to be too bad once we were up on the trails and the lift line wasn't bad with the new bike hauler situation. It is not a quiet forest experience, but the trails are absolutely amazing for progressing skills.

As soon as there’s new art, there’s new graffiti  . I was up there about 11:30 this morning on my gravel bike but didn’t stop at the tanks. A pretty perfect day … no heat, no humidity, no hurricane.

I know you've posted pics of this bike (and others) many times, but it's a joy to stare at! All of your bikes are a very satisfying amount of customized and clean, without being overly blingy. Many Kudos!

Messed around in the OHV area in Fruita after riding the Zippity loop a few weeks ago. Fun area but too damn hot now.

Any of you guys use a convertible helmet and have any recommendations? I really feel like I should wear a full face on a couple of the trails I ride, but they start with a 2k+ ft climb....

Also, tossed some fresh tires on the firechicken after the last incident.

I really liked my Bells Super 2 and 3. Now they have the Super DH and the like. Wouldn't hesitate to wear those again.

That or I am really liking my IXS trigger. Basically a slightly burlier version of a Fox ProFrame.
