The bi-polar weather we have almost makes it a necessity to have a place to store gear.
Leave the house with clear skies and solid forecast, come home in a downpour. Plus I like to bring snacks, small cooler, etc...:D

FJR saddlebags will actually fit most full face helmets inside and I do that when solo and stopping at a store or something. Top case is strictly when 2-up so she has a back rest and we can pack for long trips. Also useful when we run to Maryland for the Captain Morgan Silver Spiced Rum she and I both like. PA no longer sells it so we have to travel for it. FYI, and FJR saddlebag can carry 3 x 1.75 liter handles and the Givi trunk can fit at least 4 more x 1.75 bottles.

yah the beauty of the ADV is they don't look as out of balance with a top case. Thinking more and more of going this route.

This not a slight, if just profiling around town is your thing, you probably never will see a need for a trunk. But if you use your bike to go to the grocery store, the liquor store, buying clothes, when you roll out of home on a Saturday morning knowing it will be 8 days before you see home again, when the right saddlebag is stuffed completely full of "her" gear, the left bag is full of your gear and inside and on top of the trunk is where the daily gear you will need is, a trunk is as needed as wheels.

I'm going to stick this photo up again, on top of the trunk, in the trunk bag and strapped over the bag, are 2 leather jackets, 2 Gerbing liners, inside the gray bag is electric gloves, rain gear, clear face shields and more that I dont remember. We left Chama New Mex before 6 am it was in the 20's, hiked through the ruins at Mesa Verde for maybe an hour, this photo was Escalante Utah on the way to our nights stay at Bryce Canyon, and it was showing 102 degrees. We stopped so the wife could strip down out of all her insulated gear and change into something cooler. We had taken off and put back on every piece of gear on top of the trunk multiple times that day. LOL

Horse for courses kind of thing.

The other source of my money drain lol

What chassis are you building? I love RC drifting but stick with the cheaper stuff to not take the hobby too seriously (I don't compete or anything).

that is true lol i feel like you are going to own all of them eventually!
no slight taken i have no interest in long drawn out trips on a moto tbh so i have no use for a trunk. when i ride to work i have my backpack and some food and coffee and water cup thats it. i dont like the idea of loading down my bike with a bunch of junk and making it even more heavy then it already is so if i gotta do groceries ill get my truck, gotta get stuff truck, going on a trip? truck with bike on a trailer lol i just dont have a want for that kind of thing. i see how they are practical for others but just wont ever use one since i have other means to hold more gear. i have done groceries before on the klx and all i do is shove it all in my backpack and go home lol.

plus my buddy with that new goldwing he got the dude is looking for a trailer so we can store some stuff in that if we ever do a bike trip haha.

i use to be heavy into rc but now all mine just sit in the basement not running or just not finished lol

Man I hate riding with a backpack. I used to do it daily on a sportbike and once I got luggage it was no turning back. Plus now I wear an airbag vest and the backpack would interfere with that as well, but having the weight fixed to your bike feels way better than having it attached to your back, especially when leaning IMO. But, I also have friends who think luggage is horribly ugly, so I get it. But those same friends also ask to throw stuff in to my luggage while we ride. :D

And yeah RC is kind of a come and go thing for me. My problem is if I don't have friends into it then I kind of lose interest myself. The other problem is, and one of the things I really do hate about California so feel free to shit on it, is RC crawlers are banned from most hiking trails and parks here so you can't go many places without being hassled. I used to go hiking with my trucks all the time before they started cracking down on it and now they just sit.

ive never understood the dislike of a backpack lol but i guess im just use to it from atvs and mountain bikes and such so it doesnt bother me. well until after my accident now if i have to much weight on my back my collar bone screams in pain but thats after hours of riding usually. see that works you are the pack mule haha

ya same.. i bought a bunch years ago then after a friend passed away i still used them and built his like how he wanted hopefully? but after that it was boring... so now they just sit on a shelf... honestly thats similar here... i had the cops called on me twice before when i took my scx10.2 on hike with me... they have calmed down and now no longer care as much but still drives me nuts that they even had a problem to begin with like wtf am i going to do with this baby truck..

atm once i have that run are
    scx10 comp rig
    scx10.2 trail rig
vatara twin hammers idk why i bought it lol
    ecx buggy (friends rc)

    broken ones lol
slash 2wd race truck turned into a truggy
slash 2wd parts truck that i made work lol
slash 4wd made into a truggy
    4tec 2.0

i had two others that i sold for cheap since they were destroyed scx10.2s that i wanted parts from.

way to much money in each one of these trucks... both of the scx10s have 1k into...

Damn. I would think they'd be any worse than a bicycle or even folks walking. I wonder if they allow folks in wheelchairs?

Seems like that was brought up by someone that has probably never been in nature.

I could understand that being aimed more at something like larger scale gas powered trucks ripping through plants off trail, but crawlers? That's crazy.

I agree, usually yellow wouldn’t be my first choice but I’m a sucker for the Yamaha one.

Around here it’s supposed to be a blanket no RC rule due to drones but I’ve heard the BS “it damages trails and disturbed animals “ thing as well. Even though MTBs go way faster and are rougher on the trail… can’t enjoy anything nowadays.
