One of the rangers told me I was destroying the trail with my crawler… as he drove his full size F150 down the trail…

Any of the WA peeps wanna do a 101 loop of the Oly Peninsula this weekend?

I have a tent camping site reserved at a place between La Push and Forks that could probably squeeze another rider + bike. Mostly road but a little dirt getting to camp (short gravel stretch I think)

    Plan is:

Day 1: leave Everett mid-morning and take the bottom of the loop clockwise via I-5 or Edmonds Ferry through Ocean Shores, up the coast, go see Ruby beach, the James Island overlook, and anything else we stumble upon before heading to camp.

Day 2: Up to Neah Bay, then over to the Hurricane Ridge overlook before dropping into town for lunch at Next Door Gastropub, then work our way back to the mainland via either the Kingston or the Port Townsend+Clinton Ferry combo.

Agreed, functionality of a top box is unmatched. I have 2 smaller Givi 33l trekker sidecase / top boxes that came setup as side cases on my super tenere. for 99% of my riding I dont need more storage than just one so I moved it to the top. I liked it so much that I put the mostly unused 2nd one on the rear rack of my lil xt225 round town bike. It definitly looks out of place on the xt225 (especially with the red color match for the super tenere) But i dont care the function ESECIALLY on the xt225 for errands is beautiful.

I didnt realize how much I'd miss locking hard storage like I had on my Triumph. Not that I've got Mosko panniers, I def feel the angst when I have to leave my bike unattended, even if everything in them I could care less about.

Anyone have a pair of the metal Tusk hard panniers? I've thought of mounting a set of Mosko brackets on a set and using them for use in more populated areas to make myself more at ease.

Pics didn't come through on my end.

Built up an MST RMX 2.5 S+, reused a castle 1400 series brushless motor and sw3 ESC from another broken truck. Only pic I have of it during body fitting, still haven't finished or painted it. Use it to blast around the basement when I have spare time (ie, never) or one of my daughters (2yrs) wants to "play" with it. Running on 2S so she doesn't get full control yet, but she does want a car of her own I'm reminded constantly.

Backpack is the way to go for me also, very short trips like the gym and odd grocery run. Other than that I want as little weight with me as possible, even removed the tiny bag on the KLX the day it came home, like clean look of just the bike. Obviously if / when I move onto something like a Tenere 700 I'll need to re-evaluate.

I just use mine outdoors solo with the dog when I get the chance, he loves to chase things being a border collie.

    Currently have:
    Traxxas E-Revo VXL (v1)
    Traxxas Slash 4x4 LCG
    Traxxas Rustler VXL
Axial Wraith (has never run, I just like building things)

    Old:
Traxxas Revo 3.3 (miss the nitro, but not the upkeep and tuning)
Traxxas 1/16 Rally / Summit / E-Revo (converted it to all 3 during its life and then sold)
Traxxas X0-1 (could never find a place big and debris free enough to play with it. Constantly got flipped over trying to do donuts and speed runs even in new mall parking lots)
    Traxxas Slash 4x4

Dang it, they’re working on my end. Ah well.

Any plans to take it to a track?

Tried forced refresh and a couple other browsers too! Might need a restart.

Zero plans for a track. Just a toy for me to enjoy when I can, rest of the time it's a shelf queen to look good on display in the home office (yet another WIP).

I will not wear a backpack on a bike. I will strap it on the rack, but it wont be on me. LOL I have a couple I use for travel on 4 wheels but the closest I have ever gotten to wearing them was one arm through the strap.

who knew backpacks were so disliked lol

I would rather a backpack than onboard luggage personally...have done a few weekend trips stuffing my backpack full. Definitely prefer not to have one, but that's my go-to if I need to carry something that won't fit in my pants/jacket pockets, or in the tail. I keep it tightly fitted so it doesn't move around much if at all, and the shell of it is aerodynamic so it doesn't catch much wind either.

As for gear, I always take it with me. rather deal with the hassle than deal with stolen gear and have to ride home missing a piece.

I pulled both saddlebags off my FJR1300 once and ran just the top box with her along on a ride and was shocked to pick up 2-3 mpg compared to running it with saddlebags. Never gave much thought to the added wind resistance of them.

I love building things too! It’s part of the reason why I love drifting - it’s one segment where kits are more prevalent than RTR.

That being said I still have a Tamiya BBX I bought last year I still haven’t opened but for some reason still keep buying hop ups for every time I buy from Amain. :D

MPG be damned, I run my panniers because I think the bike looks naked without them!

I just wanted to try it once and see how it went. The FJR comes with some little color matched plugs to fill in the holes where the saddlebags mount if you choose to run without them.

I use a courier bag (similar to a backpack) for short runs if I need to carry a couple things. Don't like having the weight and heat obstruction for significant riding. That becomes a tank bag, and then I add the Ventura rack if still more is needed. In all things, the destination is a major consideration. I don't wanna have to carry a tank bag around, so if it's urban & walking away from the bike, the courier bag gets the nod.

The 1000S is pure cafe, no bags allowed ever. Both of the other bikes pretty much have perma luggage. GRiSO is the only bike that presents a conundrum, and that's what I ride mostly these days.
