Rebecca has to have every light on in the house during the day time and it drives me nuts lol. I've learned to live with it for the most part, not something worth getting into a fight over

    Oh no way, that's crazy

I knew someone like that before...forget who

We keep all ours off as you know, except in the room we're in if it's at night

Day time? Fuck that, natural light for the win!

I remember I would spend a lot of time walking around my house turning off lights.

yeah the curtains are all open too, but it's about having it as bright as possible I guess. I should clarify just the living areas, bedroom lights no unless someone is in there.

That was me, I still will if it's a bedroom light that's on and no one is in there. Also the silent war over the AC setting

@Kwikvette just wait until Theo gets older and starts using the sink for 20 minutes at a time and leaving the freezer open to count ice cubes when no one is looking. Little kids are the most inefficient human beings ever

Have you had to explain that when it's 73* in the house and you want it to be 67*, for example, that setting the AC to 60* doesn't cool it down faster!? fuck me there is so much less stress in my life now hahah

Oh my god yes lol. I think some people think of it like their car's AC where the colder they set it, the colder the air will be that comes out.

It's another one of those things we sometimes get into it over, for Rebecca she'd rather let Sofia play with the sink faucet for awhile because she's happy and it keeps her entertained, but me I'm like goddamnit we just put CA into a drought again and it's going to reflect in the water bill

Dude, I can understand both sides

Theo's still young to do all that, but old enough to know what he wants and wants to do and sometimes it's easy to just "let them" because it doesn't hurt the immediate party, and you know they'll throw a tantrum if you make them stop

He started (as recently as days ago) to start screaming when we put him down to sleep

Apparently, it's the exact age (15-18 months) when separation anxiety, etc start to kick in or things like stressors from "transitions"

I picked him up last night, sat in the glider in his bedroom, and he passed out in my arms right away but I'm like dammit, I didn't expect this sort of thing at all until I read up on it

Oh man, you have crossed over into the dark side now haha. From here on they go through phases with bed time where it gets super easy for awhile, then super hard, on and on.

I did that with Sofia for a long time too (waiting with her till she fell asleep), and I totally support doing it on occasion but I will say try not to make it a habit like I did. You really want them to learn to soothe themselves into sleep especially when they aren't tired when it's time for bed. I took too long to enforce that and it was rough around ~2 yrs old. But yeah that transitional phase is a tough one...you have my condolences lol

On the plus side, he's always been great at self soothing I mean fuck, he discovered his fingers right away in lieu of a pacifier

But yeah I'll to utilize other comfort items such as a night light, or music, or something

I tried the small stuffed animal thing and he did hold onto it when he was in my arms

I just wasn't sure if "letting him figure it out" was appropriate or not at this age as it worked out great prior to recent

I'll wait it out again though but yeah hopefully I can add something to help calm him

Sofia is good about going to sleep on her own now, has been for a couple years...but her thing is she needs a solid 1 hour bedtime routine to wind down. Getting jams on, brushing, reading stories, songs....then usually she will get up once after I leave the room for another goodnight and then she's down for good. So we usually start the routine at 7 and she's down by 8.

But then the whole scared of the dark thing started, scared of random noises, scared of weird shadows, etc. etc. and that was fun.
