I need help figuring out what the wiring harness (circled) connects to. It mounts on the center tie bar bracket. The wire is also intertwined with the wiring for the ambient temp sensor. The plug end in question mounts on the lower radiator support. I know it’s not fog lamps because that’s a completely different plug. I’m new here and frustrated and can’t find the help section if there is one.

Only two conductors, I think that is for the hood latch sensor.

Uh, why are the lights tangled up in it? :p

The circled connector is the jumper harness for fog lamps. That harness splits into two legs and one runs to each fog lamp. I have tested this before.

Isn’t the hood latch sensor up higher? It was in a front end collision, no damage to hood. Replaced entire bumper assembly with radar, no fog lamps, replaced headlamp, which is in fact plugged in. And the only sensor I see on “all data” in that location is the ambient sensor, which I have plugged in, and there is an ac pressure sensor. So I have no clue what it is. It’s also been a couple weeks since disassembly. All data also only shows one ambient temp sensor so there is not in fact two.

But isn’t the plug end for the fog lamps bigger?

    What year is the truck.
A wiring diagram will be easier.
That way you can see what is going on.

It’s EN1 shown on page 14 of this attached PDF.

You can see it splits to the fogs which are F26 and F27, shown on pages 2&3.

You’re right. Thank you. I’ve been feeling like an idiot all day thinking “wtf did that plug into.” It has not fog lamps so that makes sense as to why it there is nothing there. Ok but new question. Why doesn’t it have a cover or something, and why is it there in general? Like I know on the Prius, you have to splice wires together and stuff if you wanna add fog lamps, why is this so mainstream?

I don’t know for sure why, but probably so they can be easily added as a package or something like that. Cant say why the Prius wouldn’t be the same, but a lot of time they make more generic harnesses with features and unused dangling plugs on the vehicles not using those features.

You don't mention just what vehicle you have, please do so in the future it helps with troubleshooting. Such as features a vehicle is equipped with. I'm only guessing your vehicle is some lower level SR?

As far as the connector for the fogs not having a plug to protect the contacts?

    Possibilities: imo
I understand from your posts the vehicle was involved in a collision, prior to the accident it may have had fogs and were never replaced.
If it never had fogs it may not have had the relay and fuse installed so there would never be any power there to be concerned with, thus no protective cap.
Does your turn signal/headlights stalk have the Fog light switch. If not, the vehicle never had fogs.

You may find lots of loose connectors within the vehicle as you explore further, there are many in my truck. Example: My vehicle is an automatic and the clutch switch connector is present. Easier for Toyota to build some things with generic wiring harnesses than with dozens of variations.

    Side note:
I have removed my fogs, the fog relay and fuse.
