A while back I removed most of the coating on the top of the spine and on a small section of one side to help strike ferro rods better. It turned out shitty and didn’t strike rods that well. I left it that way for a while until today. I stripped the remaining coating off the entire blade, leaving the handle coated. Cleaned with acetone and gave it a forced coffee patina. Sheeeeeit, looks way better and with a little filing on top it throws sparks as good as any of my other blades.

The coffee patina bug got me. I gave the BK18 the same treatment. I tipped my stripper for maximum effort.

Sorry just saw your reply….thanks it’s a very nice knife……it’s half wood and half acrylic…. Not exactly sure what king of wood. Fit and finish is excellent.

I sold mine back in 1985 (I bought it new in 1976). I still regret selling it, think about the fun I had in it every day.
