Was about to say, you posted before my own shit posting began

 

Might be a dumb question but if can’t figure it out is it safe to drive like this to a mechanic, or will I burn valves driving it like this?

 

Kind of early to throw in the towel, but go for it

 

I was just saying in case I got stumped

Be odd but, I wonder if swapping a coil pack with another would move your misfire at all

I only mention this because it's super quick and easy to do and I'm a fan for quick troubleshooting approaches

But because only one side was misfiring, I would've also been looking for a nicked wire or plug of some sort

 

Cats, o2 sensors maybe...but a short drive I doubt it.

I have a hard time believing it's unrelated to the recent fan clutch work unless you really are just that unlucky. If the only thing you moved around were the plug wires then I would focus there.

 

This is also probably a dumb question, but all the coil packs are in the passenger side right? Is there one of them that could’ve come unplugged and affected only the driver side cylinders?

 

Coil packs are on the passenger side

One pack per two cylinders

Replacing plugs and wires all in all is like a 15-30min job as it's super easy and everything is right on top

It's why I suggested moving a coil pack over, just keep in mind what plug wire goes where and utilize the diagram Kira posted

 

Hm well I can try moving them around after work. I’m just confused what would cause it to be on only the drivers side. Maybe it’s just by chance that those three wires came unplugged slightly or something.

 

How old are your plugs and wires? If it's been awhile or you're not sure I would just do them, knock that out and it will probably fix the misfire. If nothing else, you gave it a new tune up On a stock 3.4l its an easy job like @Kwikvette has said

 

The only issue, because I know Nick likes to drum up the worst possible scenario ever, is that those little combs will break that hold the wires in place

Did you unplug your coilpacks or wires at any time during this ordeal? It is possible to plug the wrong coil pack plug into the wrong coilpack if the plastic wire trays are cracked.

 

Joe Engle died yesterday, was a test pilot in the 60s and one of the few to fly the X-15....also an astronaut. Hell of a career, RIP

 

What a life though, I mean to be a test pilot of the shit we were cranking out in the middle of the Cold War....especially the X-15...and to pilot the space shuttle...and to live for nearly a century.....that's one hell of a life story. Respect
