I keep it Stock but Clean!
Need some help guys. Was welding on a job, threw my extension cord over my shoulder, loaded it up on my Taco and then drove off. I forgot there was grease on the cord and that same grease is all over my seatnow . I have been meaning to get seat covers to avoid this issue and I guess just waited too long. Does any one with a 2nd Gen Taco w/ Double Cab (TRD Off Road Pkg) have the TRD seat covers? if so I have some questions:

    • How much did they run you for front and back (Double Cab)?

    • Do you think the material they are made from can withstand being stained from grease/ a construction worker sitting on them?

    • I have read previous threads but was install as hard as people have made it out to me?

    • Lastly, any pics of installed seat covers; Wet Okole, leather, TRD Brand covers would be much appreciated?

I got the TRD seat covers for my '09, went to install them and there's a big tag that reads "Don NOT install on seats with seat-deployed airbags.." or something like that. Anyway, my truck has seat deployed side airbags so I had to return them. They priced at $197, for the front 2 seats, and seemed pretty beefy: the center part (where you sit and your back) was kind of a thick rubberized material that could probably hold water and easily wipe clean, the rest of the covers were like wetsuit material, pretty thick and dense (water would probably bead off of them), they might stain but I think you could scrub alot of crap off that material, plus you can supposedly throw them in the washer. I wished they would've worked in my truck, but oh well. Right now I use a beach towel over the seat when I'm dirty and it looks like the only feasable option is to go with WETOKLE made for seat airbags.

There's a tag that reads "air bag" on the outside/doorside of the backrest if you're unsure if you have them or not.

Also, somewhere on the WETOKOLE website they have pictures of customers actual Tacomas with the seat covers installed and in various colors.

Got my TRD covers for $150 new on ebay for my 08. Installation was very easy (maybe I got lucky) I just reclined the seats fully when putting them on to get the pipe wedged in there. They're very durable/strong. Only downside is when leaving the truck outside when it's below zero the rubber part of the seat where your butt sits gets so cold. It is like sitting on a block of dry ice! In summer I park with truck facing away from the sun so it doesn't get so hot. Other than that I like them a lot.

Hey I have these seat covers and I like them but would look at a different material because they make your back sweat real bad in the summer because them being rubber they cant breath. There water proof and wipe up real clean with those wipes from wal mart cause ive had grease on my back b4. $195 from toyota dealer and they dont make them 4 the back that I know of.

As most have stated the rubber on the Toyota covers make them like sitting on extremes of hot or cold depending on the weather.
The Wet Okoles do not do this because of neoprene material they are made of.

GO Wet Okole! You won't be disapointed if you can justify the price!

I purchased a pair of these and I don't like the way they fit. They fit just like cheap universal seat covers (loose and they don't stay in place)...

    I like your analogy!

Also want to add that an oxy clean spray will work wonders as well as ask your local Toyota what they use to get the grease out of seats, it's a spray with a cap with little plastic bristles. I got my truck serviced and when I got home was furious to see that there was grease on the bottom of the seat, called up the service manager, they had me bring it in and within 5 minutes had 100% of the grease removed! It was amazing. I do suggest getting the greased cleaned up as much as you can then get the seat covers.

If it hasn't been mentioned for the side air bags, Wet Okole is aware of this and I believe has special provisions to work together with the safety system. NEVER compromise the air bag system, be sure any brand you get is aware that you have seat air bags.

    Take care and Happy Holidays!

Correct... Wet Okole makes covers that work with the seat air bags!

I have the TRD covers and they work real well, paid 150 for em off of e-bay. These covers fit really well so i have no idea about the reply where they dont fit well, i guess if you installed em wrong they would be "loose". Also as for them being too cold or too hot, come on now guys! pull your panties out of your cracks and man up! This dude is a construction worker, not an accountant, that ought to get some flames......heheheh but serioulsy they are pretty heavy and stuff should wipe off em easily. Im a plumber so thats why they were the first thing i bought for my truck, it would piss me off(no pun intended) if i got grease or dirt on the seats.

Would you mind posting a pic of your install? I may have installed my wrong, hopefully I did, because I do think they would look good if they fit.

you need to fully recline the seats and use a hammer handle to push that pipe part deeper into where the upper and lower seats meet.

That helped a lot. I just hate forcing things, but that's what it took.

still not perfect, but hey it's a seat cover.. looks good enough now, I think I will leave it on.

    THanks.

Looks better but could go tighter to get rid of that loose area on the seat. Mine fit snug as can be.

    x2. They are incredibly tight.

My dealer took the seats OUT to get them on, esp. the little retainer rings underneath.

How did you get the TRD logo on there? I don't see anyplace to put in a custom logo. I like your seats better then the ones with the Red TRD logo on them.

The Trd covers will sweat your back an ass like crazy in the summer time. Other than that I love mine. I don't think they make them for the rear seats in the dc though?

I know there are some interior detail secrets about grease stains. I wonder if a tide pen is safe on wet okoles? If i was you id just keep my tools in the bed and make sure i wasnt to filthy before getting in. But its work truck so you gotta expect some wear and tear.

this is where having a Double Cab fails. Regular cabs save a good chunk of change by not having to cover a set of back row seats. Id love a set of okoles but 450-500 bucks is way to much, And i have Katzkin so i really dont wanna cover up my comfy leather.
