I live in western Wa so I know traffic. And I have both, neither is advantageous in that setting. However, the auto is way better on the trail.

 

Ill be there for sure, just shot myself in the foot a bit.

and stop making fun of Mike, he likes getting high on the diesel fumes...

At least im TRYING to solve it with ne suspension! All my other trips the van is damn near perfect, only does it have short comings around you lot. last weekend it was 98* and i was laid out on the couch taking a nap enjoying ice cold AC. If i could afford to build the tacoma back up to fuck around with you guys and my van for my personal trips, i would, but i cant so yall just are gonna have to slow down and smell the roses. well except for Mike, who is smelling diesel fumes.

 

Do you have to idle the engine to run the AC or does it have a separate AC for when you're chilling at camp?

 

I'm tired, I did entirely too much today and I've been sweating for like 13hrs straight.

 

I just idled it. There is a secondary ac system I've disabled, you need shore power to run it. The engines thirsty though, I had several hours of idle time and it dropped my avg down to 10mpgs. But to be cool and out of the sun with Venice, it's worth it.

 

Eh pros n cons. I was both happy to have an auto and not at Shoshone Lake. My tranny kept overheating and had to stop several time to let the temps get down. Hoping that was mainly due to the shroud not being installed. But didn't help we were doing like 1mph and it was very steep and rocky.

I like both. But I still miss the manual usually, its just more fun.

Im sure the new shocks will help...but not make it faster haha At some point you'll cave and the tacoma will be back. I know it. Not now. But eventually...

I mean I have fought off the thought that my shocks are in my storage unit, I could throw them back in, but new leafs and 35s and ground tent it... But moneys get in the way. Can I borrow 5k to get it where it needs to be?

It's certainly nicer now than it's ever been as a solo traveler. Hot, cold, it works out great having a literal room to hide in that's temperature controlled.

 

The regear will go a long way to helping with that. The tall tires are a big help in the rocks and a hindrance because it takes more to pop up outa that hole and get rolling. Are you running a trans cooler?

Yeah for sure. Definitely pros to it.

I do have a cooler. Which I need to fix the mounts for, noticed today one has come off when I put my fan shroud on this evening. But have had it a while. Seems to have been seeping a while too so I'll check the fluid levels as well.

Regear will certainly help. Probably won't get that done before the trip. Not if it stays this hot anyways.

Doesn't really surprise me. From the pictures it needed a lot of work. Spending a bunch of money with no ROI seemed like a stretch for the govt to do in the first place.
