About a week ago a 10-year-old died in South Mountain Park due to heat. Family is not local, on vacation. I dd not see many details except press-release speculation that the family was out "for several hours, since mid-morning". Since the new report was at 5 PM, means exposure from 9-ish until 3-ish ... best guess.

I am dumber than a post, but even my usual 10-mile hikes taking inclines and 1500-ft altitude change starting 2 PM are truncated often to 6-7 mile limited to flatter 600 ft of elevation change, tending toward night.

Also ... not a stupid death I think but reported because of the person ... child actor from "Alf" died in a parking lot in NW Phoenix (I think). Would probably not have been reported except because of the name.

Alright ya'll, I'm looking to get my 255/85r16 Falken Wildpeak AT4Ws installed this afternoon, and I was wondering if any of you have experience getting 33s to fit in the stock spare location. I have read about hammering and cutting stuff, but I was looking for some real world experience. Thanks!

Like the stock location under the bed for a spare?

Yeah, that's the idea, I should have made it more clear. It made more sense in my head:bananadead:

I don't have the bed space to throw it in there, and a swingout isn't really in the cards since I carry my kayaks with the tailgate down.

It should fit no problem. It is tight but anything bigger is a no go.

I'll try it later once I get them on, I'll update back. I've read yes/no/maybe so for it. We'll see!

When I was on 33's I had mine under the bed in stock location. I did move the chain hoist rearward. Here's a nice post on it https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-fit-larger-spare-tire-and-axle-dump-exhaust.605837/

I also had full exhaust at that time. With no heat issues to the tire.

I guess it could depend on the tread too. Dont throw no mud claw down there but a regular AT should be fine.

I might give that a go, he says that you can possibly just hold the tire in the position you want and hoist it up, I'll try that first. He also suggested that with no cut, just hammer the drivers side guide down, so I might try that as well

I just slightly hammered on the metal holders to give me some room and it fit. I threw a matching 285/70r17 Toyo Open Country AT3 in there. After several thousand miles I noticed it was slightly, and I mean slightly, rubbing against the diff housing so I lowered it pulled it forward a bit and cranked it up. No rubbing since.

This. Slight hammering and I ran mine like this for close to 10 years. I just used a small ratchet strap through the spare and around the receiver to pull the tire away from the diff.

33’s are no issues. I used to run my 35 under there, just had to chop the exhaust. Once I installed BAMF hangers, it was too tight and rubbed my diff pretty good. Now I just leave it at home unless I’m traveling or going off-road. Fit’s pretty well in my bed vertically, up against the front.

    You’ll be good.

what a fucking lazy prick. Thats literally the best dad thing ever, picking up your sleepy, tuckered out baby and feeling their head on your shoulder as you carry them in. What sort of a lazy imbecile skips that to leave the kid in a car at the hottest part of the day?

I hope they leave him in a hot car too.

If you're dumb enough to think leaving your kid in a car like that is OK you're also dumb enough to think that's a good excuse

Ive definitely been guilty of letting a sleeping kid finish their nap in the back of the car instead of waking them up and struggling to get them to go back to sleep in their bed.

But it was ~70 degrees and I pulled up a chair next to their open door and caught up on work on my laptop from 3 feet away.

Leaving the kid in the car and going inside, during phx summer just blows my mind.

That's an entirely different scenario though, you were there the whole time.
