New custom leaf pack installed. Jeff at Deavers still needs to figure out the new rating and will let me know the details. You can see the difference between the H70HD pack to the new custom pack. No more stress on the rear of the leaf and no more leaf separation. Gained the extra 1 1/4" i wanted truck is sitting level now with both fuel tanks full (46 gals total). Seems to ride better on the street. To damn hot out to get a test out in the dirt.

    H70HD Pack.

    I know I know. It’s always me.

Assuming it was drooped out fully to make sure that wrap clears the shackle?

Hopefully it all works for you!

Anyone else not running hydraulic bumps?
I have durobumps on 1/2” spacers with the JD2.25” and just static weight of the truck is completely pancaking them.
Looks like the extra leverage of the longer arms smashes them to basically metal-metal.
Technically the upper joint isn’t quite metal to metal but it’s real close.
What elastic bump stops does everyone recommend?

If I absolutely need to get hydro I could, but definitely won’t be getting it done in time for my next trip coming up. 0C626B47-110C-4A21-833E-0B75ACC404FA.jpg

Not metal to metal but 100% will be in real world. Space them further down for sure. But hydro are king.

You'd see a similar result from an air bump without a coil holding it up.
2" air bump has a crossectional area of 3.14". At 150 PSI, that bump stop provides 471 lbs of static support when fully extended. The pressure of course increases with compression, providing additional resistance, however it's all roughly cut in half because of the position of the bump stop up the arm. And if you figure your corner weight is a little over 1000 lbs, you start to see what's going on. The bump stops aren't meant to hold the truck up completely. They're meant to slow the final compression with the help of a coilovers and potentially a bypass, and if compressed completely, yes, keep joints from binding.

That being said, i'd be worried about the uca maxing out more than the fact that the bump is squished. May need to space the bump down a hair.

Difference is, a hydro is a hard stop. Elastic bumps do not have a predictable hard stop. The hard stop is the fastener within. So the results while similar, are wildly different.

From what I see, I would be adding at the very minimum another 1/4 of spacing as I feel confident in saying, that bump can compress at minimum another 1/4”. And that’s not factoring frame flex which is an entirely different variable.

I would see if you can adjust the bump or the LCA interface so it isn’t hanging off, might make it a little stiffer and would probably help durability.

I also know my frame / body mount flex makes me loose 3/4-1” of clearance from tire to body in the front so I would cut a little extra / space out the bump if you plan on driving hard.

Good point on considering moving the location of the bumpstop. I’ll take a better look tomorrow, that could make up for the increased leverage, and might not be too difficult to add a bracket extension.
Yea additional spacers is definitely a must if I’m not replacing the durobump

Last time I weighed it my front corner weight was 1400 lbs so compliance under real world load is significant. I don’t plan on hitting jumps or whoops too fast but there’s always a chance of a surprise washout and I used to regularly hang a wheel, sometimes 2 on steep climbs so maybe I’m not as soft as I wish I was.
Definitely don’t want to risk bending or breaking that stud though. Happy to cut travel down to protect it

With the weight you’re carrying I would highly suggest planning to just do Hydros at your earliest convenience and be conservative with driving until then.

I’m super interested to hear how this thing sits on 500lb springs.

You guys worry too much, you can get more travel if you let the ubj self clearance a bit like mine did with super bumps!

Mine did the same with air bumps pre cage too. Amazing how much that frame will flex when that bump stop location is leveraged. Lesson learned. Be more conservative during setup.

Yep I learned the same lesson. It's so insane how much the frame twists.

Do you think the Tacoma would benefit from a tube structure in place of the inner fender and a tubular core support that would tie into the fire wall where the inner fender does but without a full cage?

Anyone know who makes 5” bump cans?

Trying to replace the one USPS lost earlier this year and it’s hard to find a match. Seems like Polyperformance only has 4” cans.
