Interesting. Now you have me thinking twice lol. Maybe it was just my last Taco that was like that but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have "auto" on the stalk, on my 19 either. Regardless, If I drive with the truck in the DRL mode in the day time, that gives me the brightest dash and info screen. Once I move up to the next 2, it dims a bit, as those modes are more when it is darker outside.

Hood Struts, My version Fogs always ON, Map & Overhead Light Mod,
    Maybe this:

Bypassing the Headlight stalk wires, wire from Main Body ECU to ground with an added relay controlled by Ignition feed, Wire to switch controls a second relay which feeds the PANEL & TAIL circuits. Intercepting the feeds at the fuses (PANEL & TAIL) so the get power from added relay and not from the OEM system, this be the hardest part.

Fair. I suppose I don't really pay that much attention when my lights are off since I don't really need the gauges to be backlit.

Old thread revival. What bugs me the most that I didn’t see mentioned is that to achieve the gauges being backlight , automatically dims the head unit. Understanding the logic that one wants the head unit dimmed at night. I’ve tried every combination to backlight the gauges and not dim the head unit during the day. After reading through the thread that’s the world we live in??

Well, turn on your headlights and try it, perhaps.
