Not sure if I know anyone working at the Fredericksburg shop, but you should get a quality repair at any Caliber Collision Center.

Anybody have a DCLB driver side fender or bedside panel in MGM sitting around? Apparently they're on national back order and could delay the repairs

    I need my truck back!

Need info on undercoating and paint protection. Have some rust on undercarriage that I want/need to take care of- need to find someone who can do it, I am not in a position to do it myself and also would like to get some sort of long term paint protection. My parking spot is under an oak tree, so tree sap and bird crap are my morning joys.

A case to cover your plates in pictures:

I'll admit it. I shook my head and laughed a little when I saw the lengths people would go to in covering their license plates in pictures. I didn't see the point.

Well, I just got a lesson. A photo ticket from PG county showed in the mail today. Figured I had gotten it on my commute at some point.

I open the envelope and am immediately confused. It's a red light ticket in an area I've probably never been to. Looking closer I noticed it's kind of late on a Sunday night. And that particular night was my wife's birthday. I look even closer and don't recognize the car, but I do recognize the plates. They're from a car I sold a few months ago.

I keep all my plates for some reason. I run down to the basement and look. There's two plates with the same number as in the picture. What the ....

What I think happened is that someone got the plate number from the ad I had for the car on Marketplace. Then ordered two "novelty" plates from Amazon.

Guess I'm going to have to pay the ticket. I have no way to prove that what happened because I didn't turn the plates in. I deactivated them through the DMV website.

So just a little PSA for folks. Cover them.

They should be able to see it's not a car you've owned. That might help. Did you guys go out and do anything that might? Receipts for an alibi?

As stated, I think you have a case to be made here and should fight it. You deactivated the plates so that time/date stamp should help, plus the fact that you would be able to prove you've never owned that type of car as @Tiny's Taco pointed out. I'd be fighting it, especially if it is an expensive ticket. At least try to make some type of official record of it with the DMV, so the next time that ass clown gets caught doing something on camera you aren't stuck with the bill.

It's $75, but I think I may fight it. I talked to VA State Police and they were unconcerned. Or basically said that I have no way to prove that it wasn't me because I have the plates in my possession.

Still, I may request a court date. If anything, it's a day off. Maybe my wife will go with me.

I would think that the VA State Police could look you up in the system and see that you have never owned said shit box in the picture? :notsure:

That IMO is grounds for them dropping it. So they are saying that you could have put your deactivated plates on some random car you don't own and ran a red light? Are they really that ignorant or does the PD just not give a shit anymore?

I'm not much help, but there's a place in MD that does Fluid Film and there's a place in Fairfax that does something a little more permanent. I can't remember the names of either, but I'm sure a Google search would bring up either. The place in Fairfax is on Draper Drive. Last time I called them, I got quoted around $1k, but some of it depends on the level of rust.
