Damn, sorry I read that wrong. The automatic deflator things. :pccoffee:

Yes, I had a set of those for a short while and I think RPV beats them hands down. If you do it enough to justify the cost and install it will quickly be one of your top mods. For perspective, I used the trusty orange ARB deflator for over 5 years and Im happy to be retiring that haha

Completely apples and oranges comparison. You'll be aired down, and replacing the cap by the time you'd screwed on the staun (or any of the other similar function) deflators.

Yup, totally worthwhile over using an automatic deflator. I'm done airing down by the time I would have pulled my old Staun out of the bag in the truck.

As a side note, there's lots of talk of shaving TPMS and TPMS modification brackets re: RPVs on TW but on my 2022, my OEM TPMS were snap-ins and worked out of the box.

Apex has a note about that somewhere on their site. Some point around 2022 Toyota started using the more standard TPMS style vs the older one piece. Definitely an advantage over us 2nd gen guys

Probably the nicest piece of kit ive seen. Definitely beats auto deflators as those all still rely on how much flow your valve stem is capable of. Going to be picking up a set of these for my rpt1's. The stems that came with them are subpar in terms of flow...

Does anyone have these installed with SCS wheels? I’m trying to figure out what length I need.

Thanks. I just bought F5’s and will order the standard length. Do you not run them anymore?

I run Method 703's instead of SCS wheels nowadays but still use the Apex RPVs.

These things are sweet! I aired down from 35 to 15 psi about 13 seconds.

I really like these valve stems because you can air down so fast but one downside is that they are a little on the long side. I have the regular size but depending upon where the hole is on your wheel they stick out slightly pass the edge of the wheel. At least they do on my SCS Wheels. I was doing some hard rock crawling and tight trails and I broke two of them off. I have since removed them from set of wheels that have 35 on them but will most likely use them on another set of BFG all terrains I have in a 34.

Digging up an old post, but are those SCS wheels you’re running? Do the valves stick out past the outer lip of the wheel? I hope not. I run the BR6’s myself.

Yes, they are SR8s and the valves don't stick past the outer lip.

    .
After looking closer the Apex stems don't stick past wheel but are about flush. I think scs wheels like ray 10 or BR that have the fake bead lock ring will provide more protection. However if you scrape rocks really hard I think a flexible valve stem is a safer bet. Also if you do break a Apex stem and need to do a quick trail fix with something like colby valve stems then you need a drill in or to remove the Apex stem without having to break bead of tire which would be a pain. When I broke the first stem I just swaped out the spare tire but the second one had to drill it out. I was very lucky someone with me was carrying extra valve stems and a drill. If you break a cheap rubber valve stem you can just yank it out with pliers put a new Colby stem in. Much easier.
One more thing. I did have an Apex stem malfunction where I could not get the lever to pull. It was super tight and would not release. I do miss the 12 sec air down...

Thanks for the feedback. For most of the trails I tend to run, I think they’d suit me well. And yeah, with my BR6’s and that faux bead lock, I think that would provide just enough protection.
