Very valid question. I’m in up to around ~$225 give or take, and would be willing to put a deposit down if that would be helpful, but I realize this is probably going to be atypical of all the other “in”s. I think an estimate on the very high end is necessary for everyone interested to really gauge their level of commitment.
You’ve been so generous with your time and resources, it would suck if you got stuck holding a bag of dozens of hidden stiffies

I should clarify, if anyone orders via send cut, they would also still need to weld nuts on.

I guess you could do w.o welding but it might be trickier.

I would also go the deposit route. Time is money and much time has already been donated by fine people.

Well that's helpful, even if you're just 1 out of say..3 but my goal is actually to be less than the 4WP price

Purchased Toyota Certified, with Vijay bumpers, additional lights, and Falken Wildpeaks on Fuel rims. Prev owner apparently painted the grill.
I am also in, and willing to send a deposit. The Total Chaos looks like it retails at $195. What you are designing (or replicating) seems like it will encroach on the bed less and be just as supportive.

Very interested, but as I look at the picture on page 8, post 156, does anyone know if the placement of tie down bracket would interfere with the installation of the fit kit for an Alu-Cab Canopy Camper? I will need to do some research maybe this weekend before committing.

@Kwikvette really appreciate you and the effort you and others are putting into this! I also appreciate the quote from the previous thread alerting me to this, as I may have otherwise missed it... Thanks!

If you can, would you be able to draw and cut out a cardboard template?

This way you can confirm for yourself if it works or not.

I wouldn't go as far as drilling any actual holes, but maybe taping up the template where it would be bolted in?

Ditto. I'd definitely be willing to be put down a deposit. I was origionally going to go with the total chaos stiffies, but would be willing to pay more to hide my stiffie. (Save some embarrassment )

I finished my 4WP install today. @Kwikvette, I strongly recommend keeping the welded nut design. Loose nuts would be a nightmare for the number of times you have to install and remove for placement, drilling, and fit check. maybe the three nut bar could still be loose nuts, but the primary brackets should be as the originals are. Even the oversized clearance hole with the nut welded to the back of the plate allows for an easier fit around the drilling burs. Most exciting for me was that they accommodate the AMP Research bed extended pivot mounts! The biggest reason I put off installing this kit years was the fact I thought the two would interfere. They fit great together, and all I had to do was drill some clearance holes in the 4WP backplate.

    Dang I should've asked

That inside corner (of the bent bracket) looks a little weird right next to the welded nut

    Wonder why that is

That and wondering how tight the bend radius was on that 3/16"

I had to pop the tail light again anyway to loosen that bracket to get my final bolts in (painted them yesterday), so I went a step further and popped it out to measure.

The bend radius in the 3/16" is about 3/16", lol... pretty tight. It matters, too, because that corner edge sets the placement against the existing bed corner.

The funny spot next to the weld was a hole in the plate before it was bent. Possibly to keep the weld from popping, or for placement in the brake to align the bend?

I meant to measure the angle of the gentle angle on the large L bracket, but I failed there. Less interested in removing a whole side, so hopefully you have that angle.

    Ok so that's the gotcha

To perform a bend on such a short leg, and a really short flange to feature distance, a lot of tonnage was used for that bend

Not to mention it required notching just to get it done

That'll be interesting to mess with :bananadead:

I'll start off with making the leg longer to see if that works

That leg can't be too much longer, unless you bend it long and cut it after. See the photo from the installation instructions, the latch brace is only an inch or so off the corner.Screenshot_20240713_164809_OneDrive.jpg
