It's sounds like he needs a new job. At least you were there ready to help.

Lots of people like that set for the case more than for the tools themselves. Not that the tools are bad, but the case is so much better than what anyone else sells.

If you're looking for a really nice ratchet, though, try the Gearwrench 90t ratchets. I use both the compact head (the 3/8 drive head is comparable to most 1/4 drive heads) and the locking flex-head. The Gearwench 90t seems to be better than their 120t, contrary to most people's "more is better" instincts.

Never carried for Milwaukee hand tools. Always felt like other brands had better quality for the same price or less. Like knipex, Klien and crescent. Or harbor freights icon line of stuff.

something about the ergonomics of the Milwaukee hand tools ive used in the past i dont like.

I like williams tools, tool truck brand quality but for not as much. Been getting my wrenches and sockets from them. Plus if i lose a wrench or a socket i just get a new one ordered through mcmaster carr.

I know Wera's good (some of my friends have those allen keys in their bike tool kits) but I'm put off by how toy-like all their tools look.

I use Bondhus allen keys. Good enough for my needs, USA-made, and I think they're about 1/2 the price of Wera.
