Find me this metal pop sound on my truck (and moms 07 4runner)!

    I highly doubt its the wheel bearing, assuming we have the same problem. I haven't replaced mine yet, but I have checked them and they are solid af. Smooth, tight, no play at all. I replaced my factory suspension at 20km (like drove home from the dealership and swapped it out) on the clock and the noise started happening within that first year. So at least for me it doesn't make sense that it's a wheel bearing. I keep hoping the noise will get worse or something will just finally break lol. It's been about 7 years now... I'm passed losing my mind over this haha.

    I get cold af winters where I live and the noise changes with temperature. It's more of a creak when it gets below freezing. Almost like a broken weld sound, but I can't find any evidence of cracks or broken welds anywhere. Also, because the sound happens on both compression and decompression for me, I was able to get the sound to happen when jacking up that corner of the truck and letting the wheel droop. I had my hand on the actual coil when the noise happened and could definitely feel it in the coil. Hard to say if that means it's coming from the suspension or just resonating through it though... But that's where my suspicion of the coilover comes from. I even went so far to remove and rebuild the coilover which did effect the sound slightly. It was immediately better but then by the end of that week it sounded the same again. So not totally sure what to make of that lol.

    Reprising an old thread, it’s possibly the springs being hit by the upper control arm

    Check the lower shock bushings…doesn’t take much to kill ‘em

    Its the lower spring seat shifting on the circlip of the Bilsteins. Factory shocks come with glue there to help the shifting but end up cracking and shifting anyways. (3rd gen taco clicks are prominent with factory shocks).

    The fix. Electrical tape. Do a neat non overlapping wrap of electrical tape around the body of the shock just above the circlip setting you wish to use. Put on spring seat. Does it wiggle? Do another neat non overlapping layer in the same spot to fill the space so the spring seat goes on snug and fully seats on the circlip.
