My truck is not picking up as much as on the demo videos. It picks up the speed signs most of the time. Stops and yields half the time. Crosswalks rarely.

Doesn’t pick up “caution moose”, right lane ends, construction ahead, school zones.

It would have to have those signs programmed in, wouldn't it?

Meanwhile, many people drive vehicles without ABS and get where they’re going just fine. Who needs, much less wants all this BS?

    I’m driving, not the truck.

I had an Audi that did this and it was nice. Sometimes you miss what speed limit the sign said and can just look down to verify.

God damn it dude, I agree with you.

I’m so tired of looking out my windshield.

natural light hurts my eyes so I have to look down and use the screen most of the time anyway

Pretty soon we will have a live-feed screen instead of glass and everyone will be much safer, because we’ll be able to armor more of the front of the car, and block more sun, so we can use the air conditioning less and save the world

LOL. Exactly, I’m glad you get it.

On a serious note, it works like crap, I see the signs way before the camera does. The concept is cool, but it’s useless.

I was just curious if it worked half asssed for others

I knew exactly which way this thread would go as soon as I saw it. I chose not to go that way. Some fruit is too low, too easy.

    As for the actual topic,

Disabled before driving away from dealer. I don’t need the truck reading the speed limit signs and reporting to Toyota if/when the limit is exceed just so Toyota can profit from selling this info to my insurance company who will jack my rates for nothing more than historically normal speed variations.

Noticed this as well. I find myself using the backup system frequently:

Toyota sells the data to LexusNexus. Insurance companies subscribe to this data. It’s been widely reported on. Google it.

You can opt out of a limited amount of the data they have on you.

This. I recently heard about a guy who explicitly opted out, they sold his data anyway, and up his insurance went. I forget the make, but it's definitely happening.
