Got the Rev'It rain gear in. It fits in my tank bag, so I think it'll work.

Those uhaul trailers from the smallest to the largest are built like a shit brick house and DUMB heavy to deal with the abuse they see. The the biggest trailer they rent (6x12 with ramp) is 2300lbs UNLOADED, I have towed a few things with my taco, but the one time I got roped into helping move someone and towing that trailer, I picked it up and went uhh oh boy this is heavy already (which wasnt a problem just surprised at the unloaded weight).

Dayum thats a good looking setup!

EDIT - IS THAT A GDAMN STARLINK!?!?

Thanks. It is the new starlink mini, super small and light compared to the other ones and can be powered off a USB-C PD connection.

Just an old photo that someone took of us that I altered a bit to be brighter. Still blurry when zoomed in because Facebook image ruins it's quality.

The grom officially has luggage racks and saddle bags. Freaking pumped with how it turned out. I’ll put up pics tonight :transformer:

Edit: Each side can hold 15ish cans. I fit a 12 pack of PBR straight into one side bag, in the box. Officially Honda says they only hold 1kg max... that's a stupidly low weight limit IMHO, we'll see how they hold up.

Did the 101 loop this weekend on the peninsula. What a great way to spend a weekend. Weather wasnt too hot most of the time and this morning was misty and cold along the west/north coasts. Mostly road riding , but did get a little gravel and some sand in. Also ended up getting to meet a few groups of ADV riders when stopping for gas and then dinner in Forks. Also, also, what they say is true. Show up on an ADV bike and everyone wants to talk to you. Had people saying hi and asking questions and people stopping their car in parking lots to chat about touring bikes and travel plans.

Loaded up and off we go!
    20240713_081326.jpg

Dropped down the Hood Canal and enjoyed the backroads through the southern half of the loop. Stopped at a ranger station to look for a 101 sticker (none) and a bathroom/photo op.
    20240713_103216.jpg

Made my way to Ocean Shores excited to try the beach and ride sand, fresh off the heels of going down the Sedlak Offroad Lessons. The weather brought in a fog bank, which made seeing oncoming traffic impossible, and also looking ahead and not at your front tire equally difficult. Vis was at best 50 feet. Got about 1/4 of the way along the beach before I decided to bail.

On the way to the next exit point, I found a loose spot where the waves hadn't wetted it down and I...decided to take a spontaneous photo op. Ignore the impact crater in the foreground, you don't see that. :p
    20240713_135737.jpg

Gave my motocamping pack list a shakedown and really only forgot bugspray. A USB-C cable was also acquired at the Kingston safeway to charge my headphone pod while riding, something I had also forgot on the list. Not too bad to only be missing 2 minor things.

    20240713_200647.jpg

Woke up this morning ready to head to Neah Bay, but with the moody weather, decided to sleep in a bit and putz over to La Push for a coffee break before heading to Port Angeles.
    20240714_082357.jpg

Then took a detour to the coast road (112/113?) along the top edge to PA to get gas before heading up to Hurricane Ridge. The sun had come out at this point so made for more enjoyable riding.
    20240714_114222.jpg

Made the way back to Port Angeles for lunchat Barhop Brewing before riding home. Caught the Port Townsend and Clinton Ferry. The Clinton Ferry, I was literally the last thing on and they put the ramp up right behind me. Glad for that since it had started to get hot in the sun at this point. The PT ferry they squeezed all of us in a corner and made getting off a tiny bit of a challenge.

Home Plate! Really makes me appreciate you Iron Butt riders. 527mi in two days kicked my ass. I cant imagine 2x that in 24h.

Nah, Honda is gone. I kept it 11 years. Honestly best bike I ever owned.

If I sell the KLR and end up not replacing it, I may skip the whole trailer thing and just rent one when needed. Last long'ish 1000 mile trip on the KLR was an ass kicking.

    Edited to add,

The KLR isnt an uncomfortable motorcycle to sit, the Mayer Saddle and Madstad windshield are great. The sittin is great, the riding not so much. I can run 10 hours pretty easy if I am not crowding it, but 10 hours of high speed in open country is physically exhausting. Weighted with a heavy rear bias is great on dirt, sucks at 70 with a hell of a cross wind. Unintentionally changing lanes at 70 wears on you. LOL

The BMW is planted, the KLR changes without even moving the bars.
