navigation error

Hello fellow tacoma owners,

I have a 2022 Tacoma with Navigation. However, the screen recently started to show "the navigation app has not been installed". It has been installed because I used it many times, with google maps, Apple maps, and Waze. Dealer says my truck does not come with navigation, however it does cause I used it and was shown when vehicle was purchased. Any help how to get this fixed. Dealer wants to charge just to look at it.

Is it possible you had a free trial for Toyota Drive Connect and it is now expired?

It seems like you're conflating Carplay/Android Auto with the navigation built into the head unit. Head unit navigation system is pretty basic and has preloaded maps, Carplay/Android Auto allow you to use apps on your phone (Google Maps, Waze) and display those apps on your infotainment screen.

Can you clarify what system you're attempting to use? What steps you're taking to use said system? Pictures?

 

I don't think I will ever understand why (of course it is about cash) auto manufacturers think they can do a better job on in vehicle navigation systems than the many apps that are available on your phone. Google maps, Waze, Gaia, On-X, Mapquest, or if you must, Apple maps all have more software developers and install base than any car maker can bring to bear. Please, learn from Toyota's EnTune abomination.

My phone interface works the same regardless of which of my personal vehicles I am driving, if I'm using a rental car, riding a bike or walking. Let me connect to the screen in the vehicle and charge my phone while I use it.

 

Everything was working fine with Iphone 14, I changed to Iphone 15 promax, (had free offer) now does not show any maps in Tacoma. Where as before I could just press the map button in the vehicle and map would show up. Now does not recognize google, apple noe waze

 

Did you tell the head unit to Forget/Delete the iPhone 14 or did you just add the iPhone 15?

 

Is that necessary? Anyone who gets in my truck just plugs in their phone and Carplay pops up automatically. Never had an issue so far.

 

You are correct, you should not have to delete the old phone. Just trying to help the OP troubleshoot why the new phone is not operating correctly and rule things out.

 

Fair play. Along those same lines it couldn't hurt for OP to do a shutdown/restart on their phone and make sure that iOS is up to date.

 

I wonder if the OP has CarPlay enabled on the new phone. AFAIR, new Apple phones come with CarPlay disabled, but don’t quote me on that.
