Ford Ranger and not the model in the big class action case.

We have a niece who was in a pretty much similar actions accident where she did crack a vertebra but from a top safety pick Outback walked away. The Outback was very smashed up but did not lose the integrity of the passenger compartment when flipping and rolling. When I had to go to the impoundment to collect possessions, the view was quite telling. Most all of the vehicles impounded where there were death investigations had poor or less than top safety ratings.

Sheeeesh. If I recall, with the 3rd gen Tacos, the first fatality wasn't for 18 months or some such term.

At one time that was the main reason but today it is EPA ratings. They figure the footprint size by the wheelbase and track and the smaller it is the higher the required MPG. The current formula for the Ford Maverick requires it achieve 53 MPG or Ford has to pay a financial penalty, imagine a truck smaller than that and you can understand why we don't have any. Those same rules are why trucks have grown so much in size and price which is actually counterproductive to what they were trying to do in the first place.

I have a theory about 4G Tacoma pricing-

Because stellar resale value is a feature of all Tacomas, they made the 4G cost more than the 3G so that the 3G resale values would stay the same.

Imagine how cheap you could get a 3G if a 4G was the same price??? Those 2023's just wouldn't ever sell!

And then there's all that extra technology that the 3G doesn't have and the simple fact that its a better truck all around...

Theory is they are too expensive. 24 Tacoma Trailhunter costs more than 24 F-150 Tremor.

I also have a theory… New things cost a lot. Nice new things cost even more.

My theory is that they're moving the Tacoma up market to clear out space at the 30k price point for the Stout
