The opening 5 minutes or so, showing Neil piloting the X-15 is one of the best opening sequences to a film I think I've ever seen. Pure awesome

I'm addicted to Presumed Innocent - It's like a movie every episode. Great acting by all.

The Broadway Melody (1929). On OK website. Winner of the second Oscar for best picture, and first ‘talkie’ to win it. Mediocre film.

The Eugenics Crusade (2017). PBS American Experience. Very well done documentary and fascinating subject matter.

Tour de France coverage. Stages 15, a mountainous stage. Rest day on Jul 15. Pogacar extends his lead again.
    Overall individual standings:
    1. Pogacar
    2. Vingegaard, 3’09”
    3. Evenepoel, 5’19”
    12. Jorgenson, 20’15”; highest ranked American rider. Falls to 12th from 10th.

After watching Netflix for 3 years I finally dropped it. Summer is here and I have other things I can do besides watch the crap they put on Netflix. Yes they do have some great movies but you can only watch them so many times. All the new releases are mostly crap. Only 1917 this month turned out to be worth watching. I don't miss having to troll several movies before I can find something worth watching. My wife says we may go back in the fall but I told her I've been sick of the selections for more than a year now. There are so many great old movies I would love to see again but you never see them here.

I think HBO (or MAX as it's called now) has the best library of movies and shows, in my personal opinion.

We're using HULU with MAX now. May drop HULU and pick up MAX through YOUTUBE TV as we get our local channels with them.

NetFlix, Prime/MAX, AppleTV, Hulu and Paramount+ (6 mos).

NetFlix - I watch for documentaries.
Prime/MAX - I pay $14.99 for MAX as an add-on to Prime; enjoying "House of the Dragon" right now.
AppleTV - I started watching Ted Lasso and found other interesting shows.
Hulu - we are a rider on someone's account, lol.
Paramount+ - I started watching 1883 and see other shows that are of interest. Wife will cancel after 6mos.

Hulu is good for the FX network, there are a lot of good shows on there. I prefer HBO because they've been around for so long that their movie catalogue is pretty massive, and they have been behind a lot of great TV shows as well. OZ, The Wire, Sopranos, The Deuce, Band of Brothers, Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, just off the top of my head

Currently doing a trial of Prime again. Series I found worth watching:

Fallout - It reignited my love for the game. Just wished there were more oddball character cameos like Fred Armisen's DJ character and the con man. Going back to playing Fallout 4, and thanks to ChatGPT and movies like The Creator, I'm now a full on BoS acolyte and totally on board with destroying all AI, good or bad. DiMA, the Institute, and the clueless Railroad are all going down.

Johnathan Strange & Mr Norell - A bit more of a mixed reaction to this one, but glad I stuck it out. The look on the Fairie's face when shot with walnuts was priceless.

Reacher 2 and Terminal List - Both so unrealistic and absurd, but just couldn't stop being pulled along on the roller coaster of revenge fantasy.

Night Sky - I'll give it 3 out 5 stars. I think it ended on a promising note for a 2nd season. Main problem is that characters were a bit overwritten and too plot driven at times.

Duetschland83 - This would normally be right up my alley, but the writing seems a bit too formulaic. The Same Sky is a better series covering the same subject matter. Kleo was more fun.

There's a few sequels I was toying with watching:

Outer Range - Didn't make it to the end of the first season when I read it just got worse (it wasn't seeming to get better). However, if the second season redeems the 1st, I'll give it another try. @Pablo8 , what say you?

Good Omens - Can remember much about the 1st season, but I remember liking it.

Patriot - The first season was both clever and infuriating, in that the writers refused to do any homework whatsoever to tell a even remotely realistic story. The problem is that if everything is just a joke, the attempt at portraying pathos ends up falling flat once you get the shtick.

We will probably watch the rest at some point. We get so busy in the summer, not as much TV

Zoot Suit Riots (2002). PBS American Experience. Interesting history piece.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977). Prime. A rewatch, I had seen this in grade school but only remembered the last 20 minutes or so.

Tour de France coverage. Stage 16 a sprinter’s stage. No change in leader’s standings.

Noticed there was a season 4 of Blown Away on NF.
The artists are great but the host dialogue jokes haven’t gotten any better, in fact they are worse each season.
