ok another problem I need help with. I have 99 tacoma and noticed my blinker light on the dash when I turn left was blinking really fast, my rear blinker is also blinking very fast but the front blinker is dead. I replaced the front bulb and it looked burned out, tried two differant ones but still not working and the dash and rear blinker still blinking at about three times the normal speed. when I turn on the right blinker it is at normal speed and front and rear normal.. thanks in advance guys...Dan

Take a bulb out of the RIGHT side front blinker (one that you know is working) and put it in the left side and TEST. If everything is good when you use the left signal - then you probably been putting the wrong type of bulbs in. If its still blinking fast - then there could be something wrong with the socket (the bulb plugs into) or the connections. I would unplug the wiring from the socket, inspect, clean if possible and plug it back in and test again. If your'e still having problems.... If possible - swap sockets from left to right and test.

Do you happen to have wiring for trailer lights. I've found this is often the root of some of those problems.

Did you ever figure out what the cause of this is? I have the same thing going on in my 2003 and its only the front left that isn't working. The bulb lights when I turn on my running lights and it only has 2 wires going to it. When I turn on the blinker it just blinks fast.

Looks like you are no longer stock. Did you put the ARB bumper on? Since the stock blinker is in the bumper, some sort of rearrangement had to have occurred.

Which light are you referring to here? Is it the one next to the headlight? Or is it down in your ARB bumper?

A fast blinker is usually an indication of a wiring problem somewhere in the complete circuit which could include all the light bulbs on that side of the truck. Is the rear blinker on that side also blinking too fast?

What works and doesn't work when you turn on the 4-way emergency blinkers?

It's the light next to the headlight.

If I turn on the running lights all 4 corners light as they are supposed to. If I turn on the left blinker, the front left stays solid and the left rear blinks fast.

After 2 hours of messing around I dropped it off down the street and couldn't be hassled with it.

Did you change the Marker lights (the light next to the headlights) yourself? Stock they are not the blinkers. If they are you blinkers now, someone has rewired them to make them the blinkers.

There are two ways to do the conversion. If the marker lights on your truck act as blinkers and act as running lights, the bulb type was changed by modifying the bulb socket and the wiring. If thats the case, the bulbs in there have two filiments and one of the filiments is burnt out.

Did you take the marker housing off and pull the socket out and look at the bulb? Is it an 1157 bulb?

I'm pretty sure you are off on this. The marker lights have an OEM part number on them, and all OEM wiring going to them. They are the only lights up front that blink on my 03 and my 97. The lower ones do not blink. It's always the lights on the corner of the car that blink so that they are visible from the front and the sides.

If it's not the orange corner light that blinks, then what mythical light assembly is it supposed to be?

The "mythical light assembly" that blinks are circled in red for ya. No those are not fog lights. Those are the stock turn signals unless someone did the fog light mod on your truck.

Well I guess I am wrong on this one. I found the DIY's for the blinker mods too.

Both my Tacoma's had the orange lights blinking too. Yesterday I was looking under the bumper and under the hood and everything looked stock. There is only one bulb in the assembly too.

Mechanic called up and said there was a short in the lower blinker. Now that it's fixed both are blinking like they should be.

This is the second time in about 10 years where my turn signal problem was because my "U-Haul" 3 to two wire converter for a trailer went bad. Snipped it off and now all is well.

I'm also having problem with my stock turn signals - as of this morning the turn signals ALL work correctly UNTIL I turn on the Parking lights or Headlights- then everything Flashes like you turned on The Hazards? BOTH sides of the Tacoma flash! WTF? Bad Flasher Relay? -NO Trailer light harness! ALL bulbs are lit up as normal. Help

If it has a trailer harness I can nearly guarantee it’s bad.
