Still following along here. So exciting!
My preference is button heads. Black oxide is okay. They do rust but I notice it takes a while and mine will be inside a camper so not exposed to the elements.

I would also prefer the inside/visible piece to be as small as possible, with nothing sticking out.
I have a bed platform and plan to bolt the platform supports right onto the stiffeners.

@Kwikvette sorry! I just read the updated page 1. For whatever reason I thought just the button heads were black oxide.
Could you please update me to no bolts/tiedown?

When you say "inside/visible" piece, are you referring to the portion I used as a tie down?

I refer to that as the "exterior bracket".

If you'd like, I can make your bracket a one off for ya as it would be the equivalent as the initial one you drew up.

You could use my mounting instructions found on the initial post, mark the holes (without drilling) and place your paper template over said holes. This way you can measure how big or small you want your bracket to be in relation to the mounting holes.

Yes, I do mean the exterior bracket. No tie down.
    Would really appreciate that!

Now that pricing is out, I'll just want to see how many INTERESTED will say they're COMMITTED.

Those willing to do a deposit will be the first batch, treating them like pre-orders. There's more than enough currently.

Committed buyers will give me an idea of how much hardware I'll need to buy for future orders; don't want to get stuck with a 500 pack when I only needed to buy a 250 pack

Then again, this is in the 3rd Gen section.

There can be a number of 2nd Gen owners that may be interested as well.

Local transaction only, at a discreet location of my choosing.

You are expected to come alone, and bring unmarked bills.

Details of this transaction will be sent to you via text; do not reply to said text as any further communication with that number will be a dead end.

@Kwikvette plain bracket still has the "D" in the plate as a tie down point, correct?

I'll cut a "plain" bracket tomorrow or when I can, but plain refers to something like the small one in the very first pic of the very first post.

It has no tie down opening, nothing, hence plain.

This thread is still young, so it's still evolving so to speak.

I'll update the initial post to display what a plain bracket is.

I just wanted to wait for the prototype to get sent so I can make any adjustments if needed laterally.

Ok thanks for clarifying. Put me down for tie down bracket.

I was confusing the bolt-on "rings" as tie down.

    Gotcha.

Yeah the rings I have aren't an option. I just happen to have a pack of 4 as I ordered them for the sake of SCIENCE.

But I will include them if someone wants to buy them so they get everything together as a "kit".

It's damn-near flush, and sits a few inches above that line IIRC.

Unless w.e your carrying is literally riding on the edges of the bed and touching the tailgate, I don't see any issues with clearance.

Mind you, everything is placed and measured by hand so I expect a few days to knock out each batch.

This is to ensure nuts are centered as evenly as possible on each piece.

You'll be the only lucky recipient for these specific weld nuts

I got too anxious and wanted to weld something up today.

Just need to wait for the remaining hex head bolts otherwise the prototype is ready to go.

If they are far out I can always source them locally.

I can't imagine them being more than a dollar or two.
