Had leak in left rear not third. Also replaced -backup sensors shorting out. replaced - crankshaft position sensor. They probably reflashed the thing 3 times for the various transmission bugs. Transmission itself was underfilled from Toyota and the dealer manager to underfill it somehow because they used a flush machine despite me telling them "Drain and fill" - "Derrp we must have left some fluid in the tubes". So far that has not done any noticeable permanent damage.

Nobody would even be talking about a Ranger Raptor here if it didn't have 400+HP.

At no point in your rock crawling overland journeys will you ever need 400 HP unless youre just trying to break stuff.

400HP is still fun though on the pavement!

Not to bash Ford- I've had good experiences w Fords, I bought a 99 Ranger new and put 300k+ miles on it and the only thing that ever broke was a timing belt (8 plug 4cyl)

Had a couple Mustangs too and still have a 7.3 Excursion...

But I think this new Ranger is just not as good looking as a 2007 Ranger.

It's like the same idiot who decided to call the Mach E a Mustang got to run the design dept and wanted to make their "new" generation look more like a 1996 model.

I don't even think it compares or competes with a Tacoma except maybe on the price.

Maybe there's a reason Ford has to put 400HP in their midsized truck to try to compete with a Tacoma for sales?

Certainly entitled to your opinion but all other manufacturers that do this for a living would disagree. The best rock crawling machine Wrangler put in a 392. Full size top of the line off road truck RAM decided to do the same thing while Ford F150 already did it. Not one Tacoma Pro shopper or customer would be complaining if it came with 400+ HP. However when you don't have it then of course all the other trucks are ugly and the HP is not needed. Looks are subjective. The Ranger Raptor and Tacoma PRO are almost opposite on looks. Half are going to like each of them. Saying that it doesn't even compare or compete I would agree, Ranger Raptor wins all day long. Unless of course you need the Fast and the Furious front seat gimmick then you would buy a Pro.

They also leave out the part where ford recommends you use premium fuel in the Raptors, but if Toyota just mentions it in the manual people's eyeballs start twitching

You're right, I wouldn't complain if the Tacoma did have 400hp...

    And looks are subjective.

But rock crawling is a motor sport thats about going slow, not fast.

If you like the Raptor so much then go buy one!

    Ugly trucks need love too!

    It's whats inside that counts!

You have tons of 3G guys putting premium in their “minivan” engine trucks already though. Because “it just runs better, I can tell”.

I just picked up a Ranger Raptor. Time to sell the 3rd Gen. I loved it, but the 4th Gens just didn't move my needle and I couldn't stand the transmission in the 3rd Gen anymore. The last time I drove it on the highway to our cabin, I got 13 mpgs... and I am not even overloaded and only one tire size larger than stock. I am less concerned about the 13 mpgs. It's the screaming engine in 4th gear that does me in.

Nice, I wanted HPR when I was looking. Dealer asked $5,000 over.... found Cactus Gray for MSRP.

I've got an 89 f250 with the first FI 300.

it is possibly the slowest hunk of steel on the road.

put 9,000lbs on a trailer behind it?

well, somehow it isn't any slower than with no load. LMFAO. that 300 doesn't care what it is pulling

a few places are starting to make turbo kits for these old tractor motors too!

What’s your point? The truck is still being delivered from out of town to my house. You’re a clown.
